Well, it’s not. This is very specifically for my fellow UX/UI and Web Designers out there who want to do more with less and support their developers with the right balance of structure and flexibility. So if you’re a developer and stumbled upon this article, share it with a designer colleague. If you’re a UX or Web Designer, read on… #### The Goals of B2B Marketing Site Design While they may be obvious, it's important to remember what the core goals are when coming up with the UX/UI and copywriting for your marketing site: 1. Professional and trustworthy look and feel 2. Clearly convey product value and differentiation 3. Educate visitors and drive engagement down the funnel towards conversion 4. Provide flexibility for constant design adjustments 5. Account for every device size, with mobile being the starting point 6. **Achieve #1-5 quickly and within the constraints of your team** As designers, we are key components in the process to achieve these goals. However, too often we find ourselves seeking aesthetic perfection over practical business needs. In other words, while it’s #6 on that list above, designing with developers in mind to support their efficiency might as well be top of the list. Why? Because if it's not easy to implement, it will either (1) take longer than it should or (2) come out worse than you expected (and we all know what a bummer that can be!). Enter Tailwind. #### What is Tailwind? [TailwindCSS](https://tailwindcss.com) is a style library that has exploded in popularity in recent years. This provides developers a library of sensible classes and configurations with which to style a web page, and comes with a lot of built-in behaviors (like responsiveness, automatic dark mode, and color choices for things like "prose" text). ##### Benefits of TailwindCSS to a Designer These might not seem like benefits to *designers,* but let me list out why this matters: 1. Configurations like small, medium, and large (rather than 16px, 32px, 64px) reduce the risk of human error and therefore the chances that you'll need to come in later and pixel-push (***hint***: no one involved enjoys that process) 2. The popularity has given way to various community tools and plugins within Figma that allow designers to also design with variables instead of guessing whether 322 is a multiple of 4 or not... (it's not). Check out this nifty [TailwindCSS design system for Figma](https://www.figma.com/community/file/1052575036916494414/tailwindcss-v3-4-4-design-system?searchSessionId=lxyu6yjl-0usebnrumqtg) 3. With the design(er) and the code(r) speaking the same language, the need for detailed annotations go down, the chances of miscommunication go down, and iterations can happen in a quick phone call rather than extensive documentation 4. Out-of-the-box dark mode configuration and responsive design ensure that developers don't miss these important cases (even if you've moved on to something else without covering all your bases!) 5. While it's not perfect, Figma's dev mode allows designers to think through the frames (i.e., divs) and responsiveness of the design and provide a Tailwind code export to give your developers a reasonably clean starting point instead of starting with a blank file 6. Component libraries have also sprung up to give both designers and developers a massive library of quality components built using TailwindCSS. ##### Benefits of TailwindUI (and other component libraries) The real superpower of Tailwind lies in the community's (and their own) dedication to creating sleek component libraries off of their foundational CSS design system. There are many out there in Figma's community, but because we are superfans, we'll shamelessly plug Tailwind's very own [TailwindUI.](https://tailwindui.com/) If you want to really elevate your game *and* your speed, nothing can beat **pre-built components that actually look amazing.** Starting any new web design with this tab open to find inspiration and design based on these components will not only help your marketing site look appealing, but will also shorten development (with the code examples available right in the same place) and increase the chances that you've covered all your bases for all your visitors and are giving them the most performant, appealing, and informative marketing website with the least amount of time and effort. #### Marketing Section Design Example First, find inspiration for marketing site page sections from the TailwindUI component library. Recreate what you're looking for in your design, using the TailwindCSS variables from a community design file. Note: you can still make it your own; as long as it follows roughly the layout of the example section and that you limit your customizations to Tailwind-familiar variables, it will be a breeze for your devs. ![A graphic showing how variables are applied to the design component.](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/fc9e9e28-5f1e-4a35-f571-16b101e2d400/original) ![An example of the Tailwind variables for spacing as seen in figma.](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/9d9fe883-444d-49de-3d8e-15330b97f900/original) Check Dev Mode in Figma to see where you might be using fixed pixels instead of responsive layouts with Tailwind variables. Fix those up and the export your Tailwind code by copying the code block presented in the right panel. Copy the code block and send it over to your devs. Here's what this looks like for the above example marketing site section. ```html

The better we as designers can speak the same language as our devs (and design with a functional coding language in mind), the better our sites will be for it. Tailwind and TailwindUI are amazing starting points for any project. They aren't the only CSS and UI libraries that exist, but we've really taken to them at Leed and think you might too. ### Are CTAs Getting in the Way of Building Awareness? ##### It’s Time to Rethink Your CTA Strategy. When you’re focused on growing awareness and building trust with potential customers, every piece of content you create plays a role. Among these, blogs stand out. They’re one of the most effective and accessible tools for shaping perception. Blogs offer more than just information; they provide a window into how your company thinks, solves problems, and delivers value. If you're a digital content manager or marketing lead, you already understand the power of content. But even the best content can miss the mark without the right strategy behind it. That’s especially true when it comes to calls-to-action (CTAs). Used poorly, CTAs can undermine the very trust you're working so hard to build. ##### Blogs Build Trust, Not Just Clicks Developing a strong content library isn’t just about SEO or driving traffic. It’s about offering valuable insights that make your brand stick in your prospect’s mind. And familiarity matters. Studies show that [86% of enterprise buyers](https://solutions.trustradius.com/vendor-blog/2024-b2b-buying-disconnect-the-year-of-the-brand-crisis/) select vendors they already know about *before* they begin serious research. That stat underscores the true power of brand awareness. Building awareness does not happen overnight. It takes multiple interactions over time to create that sense of trust and recognition. Each blog post, newsletter, or guide contributes to a growing sense of trust and credibility and is a small step toward earning that trust. Building awareness is not just about showing up; it’s about showing up with something relevant, insightful, and genuinely useful. The key here is patience. If you're producing high-quality content, you're on the right path. But even the best content can lose momentum if one element is missing: a clear, compelling call to action. ##### Are Your CTAs Helping or Hurting? Here’s the challenge. CTAs are necessary. You want your reader to take the next step, but *how* you present that step can make or break the relationship. Too often, CTAs are: - Added just to show stakeholders that you’re “doing marketing” - Misaligned with the content, like a pop quiz at the end of a great story - More about pushing a product than offering helpful next steps Consider this: a "Sign up for a demo!" button placed at the end of a thoughtful industry analysis can feel jarring. If someone’s early in their research, they’re not ready to talk to sales. They might not be ready for a demo; rather, they might just be trying to understand the landscape. When the CTA jumps ahead of their journey, it doesn’t build trust. It weakens it. ##### Rethinking the CTA Strategy Instead of treating CTAs purely as conversion tools, start thinking of them as conversation tools. What would be the natural next thing you'd say to a reader if you were sitting across from them? Ask yourself: - **What stage is this reader likely in?** Are they just getting to know us, or have they read three other pieces of content already? - **What challenge did this blog post help them understand?** What might they want to learn next? - **What’s a helpful next step?** Is there a related blog post, a guide, or a checklist that would deepen their understanding? This simple mindset shift turns the CTA into a helpful nudge rather than a hard sell. Another way to elevate your approach is to think in content clusters, not one-off pieces. When you create content, map out the whole topic landscape. What’s the main theme? What are the supporting topics? What’s the advanced angle? With that approach, your CTAs can guide readers to the next natural stop on their journey, not just a form fill. To scale and personalize this even further, consider using an AI-enabled content management system (CMS) that can dynamically serve CTAs and other content recommendations tailored to each visitor, based on their behavior, role, and reading history. ##### Use Natural Language CTAs Instead of shouting at your reader with bold buttons and salesy copy, try weaving CTAs naturally into the content itself. For example: *“If you’re exploring ways to align content strategy with the buyer journey, this guide on content mapping might be a helpful next read.”* That kind of CTA doesn’t interrupt the experience—it complements it. It feels like a recommendation, not a pitch. Natural CTAs reduce resistance. They blend into the conversation and feel like genuine guidance, not a sudden detour. ##### Recap: Make CTAs Part of the Experience Your blog content is doing the hard work of building awareness and trust. Don’t let your CTA strategy work against that. Instead: - Recognize that **buyers need time and multiple touchpoints** to build familiarity - **Match the CTA to the reader’s stage** in their journey - Focus on **helpful next steps**, not aggressive conversions - **Use natural language** that feels like a recommendation, not a demand A thoughtful CTA strategy doesn’t just move the reader forward. It shows them that you understand what and when they need it. And that’s where real trust begins. A generative CMS can help you combine user behavior data with other marketing data on one platform so you can be confident that the CTA and recommendations served to a prospect are just what they need. ### The Power of Recommendation Systems: Driving Engagement and Conversion Recommendation systems are integral to the development of the internet as we know it today, and are a central function of emerging technology companies. Beyond search rankings that offer relevant information to everyone, they influence the new and exciting movies all your friends are watching, and the most relevant ads that companies pay top dollar to show you. Each day, new applications of recommendation systems emerge, shaping our digital experiences. ##### How a Recommender Works The "Suggested For You" feature on Instagram, the "Selected For You" options on Amazon, and curated articles on the Wall Street Journal are all examples of how recommendation systems enhance our digital interactions. A recommendation system calculates and provides relevant content to the user based on knowledge of the user, content, and interactions between the user and the item. Initially, recommendation systems used basic association rules. If someone similar to someone else liked something, it was highly likely the latter would also like that item. Today, advanced technologies such as sequential transformer models, multimodal representations, and graph neural nets are among the brightest areas of R&D in machine learning, all being used in recommendation systems. ##### The Value of Recommendation Systems Regardless of an organization's recommendation engine maturity, suggesting relevant information to users increases the organization's credibility, visibility, and engagement. For any business, being found in web search results can lead to an instant boost in website visits or walk‐in traffic, both of which contribute to increased sales or leads. An effective recommendation system keeps visitors engaged by offering other areas of interest, allowing organizations to identify where to focus their promotional and innovation efforts. Recommendation engine results are one of the most reliable channels for gaining new insights on customers. They also offer one of the highest ROI activities that a business can develop, as recommendations continue to bring back visitors long after a primary campaign has ended. ##### Qualified Visitors For many, recommendation engines attract the most active and qualified visitors. These visitors are often looking to solve a problem or find information and sometimes need assistance in determining an effective solution. When they find the solution, they convert. Conversion is the action that fulfills a website's goal, such as a purchase on an e-commerce website, an event registration, a subscription, or a completed lead form for a B2B business. When someone searches, they are taking an active step to solve a problem or find information, making them more likely to complete the task when they find the best result. ##### Behavior Data Recommendations are an in‐the‐moment suggestion based on behavior.  People actively searching are more qualified, motivated, and loyal to the solutions they are given. Evidence is the data that reveals a user’s tastes. Collecting events and behaviors that indicate the user’s preferences allows for more refined recommendations. In the age of Generative AI, data is incredibly important. For example, on Instagram, when offered a new account to follow, users are given options like “Are you interested in this post?” or “Not interested in this post” to continuously curate the content that is presented to them. The goal is to provide the user with what they want to see even before they know it. To get a full picture of the user, organizations must consider not only what users are viewing but also how long they view it, the frequency of visits, user location, and types of devices. All data sources are equally important for the smooth and consistent operation of different types of recommendation engines. Additionally, if an organization desires to take content or user features into account, they need to deal with various types of data. ##### Overcoming the Cold Start Problem If an organization is launching a new product or innovation without historical data of user interaction—in other words, facing a cold start—analyzing the content can drive traffic. Time and time again, recommendation engines prove to be the most profitable, most productive, and generate the highest customer lifetime value compared to other channels. This success stems from the power of intent, timing, and relevance provided by recommendation engines. ### Effortless Consistency: The Power of Templates We've all visited websites that felt a little...off. Maybe the header was different on each page, or the colors and fonts didn't always match. Ensuring a consistent look and feel across a company’s web presence is essential for its success. A cohesive design not only builds trust but also makes the site intuitive, helping users navigate smoothly and keeping content on-brand. Achieving this consistency manually can be time-consuming or even sometimes impossible. But with the right tools, both content creators and developers can focus on what they do best: creating great content and delivering a seamless experience. #### Introducing Templates Templates offer a powerful solution for maintaining a cohesive design across multiple pages. With templates, one design can be created for each specific type of content—blogs, news, and products, for example—eliminating the need to recreate the same layout and code for every new post. This not only saves time but also ensures a consistent look for each type of page across the entire site. When all pages of a type share the same template, a single update to the template is propagated to each one, reducing the chance for errors and enabling site-wide changes to be made quickly and confidently. ##### The Power of Partials Additionally, individual pieces of a page can be reused across multiple templates, guaranteeing even more consistency. These reusable components, known as *partials*, are perfect for elements like headers or footers that appear on every page. With partials, a single change is reflected in every template where they're used, allowing for efficient, error-free changes. ##### Practical Example Let's see how templates and partials work in practice with a simple example. Suppose we're working on a blog post. The file we create might look something like this: ```md --- title: "Effortless Consistency: The Power of Templates" layout: blog.html --- We've all visited websites that felt a little... off. Maybe the header was different on each page, or the colors and fonts didn't always match. Ensuring a consistent look and feel across a company’s web presence is essential for its success... ``` Notice that we have some metadata with values that can be used in templates and partials, followed by the main content of the post. There's no styling and no code here; our site generator will take these values and this content and apply the specified layout template. Content creators don't need to worry about any of this—they can focus solely on creating content. This blog post will receive the same style treatment as all other blog posts by default. Here's an example of what the related template *blog.html* might look like: ```md {{> header}}

{{ title }}

{{{ content }}} {{> footer}} ``` This template begins and ends with partials for the header and footer, which are defined elsewhere and may include all required HTML, JavaScript, and styling for their components. The rest of this template file contains specific code for blog posts. Since this template applies to all blog posts, any updates here will instantly reflect across all blog posts on the site. Likewise, any changes to the header or footer partials will automatically affect all pages that include them, whether they're blogs or other types of pages. Templates in static site generators can do much more than just apply a consistent layout. Many support features like conditionals and loops, which allow for customizing pages based on the content. For example, using a loop, or an 'each' helper, enables listing all blog post titles automatically in an blog-index layout page. ```html

Blog Posts

``` In this code, the 'each' helper iterates over the entire collection of blog posts, generating a list of titles that updates automatically as new posts are added. Instead of a simple list item, we could have even used a partial that includes all the code necessary to style a clickable card with images and custom styling. Features like templates, partials, and helpers like 'each' make it easy to manage and update dynamic content across multiple pages of a site. This level of flexibility is a prime example of how templates and related functionality maintain consistency and enable the generation of many pages with minimal code. Keeping a site looking polished and professional is tough without the right tools. But with templates, it’s easy to keep things in sync, make quick updates, and save a lot of time. Coders can dive into the technical side, and content creators can focus on what they do best: crafting great content. The result is a polished site that looks great and is easy to manage. ### How to Write and Edit Image Prompts for Impressive Visuals As a marketing professional, you're always on the lookout for new and unique ways to elevate your brand and engage your audience. Get ready to add a powerful new tool to your marketing arsenal: AI-generated images. With platforms like Stable Diffusion, DALL·E, and Midjourney, you can now create stunning visuals that perfectly align with your brand message—all without a hefty design budget. The secret? It's all in the prompt. Here’s how you can master this game-changing skill. ##### **Paint Your Brand's Vision with Words** In marketing, precision is critical. When crafting your AI prompt, don't just say, "A business meeting with three employees." Instead, try something like: "A diverse group of C-suite executives engaged in an energetic strategy session, looking at data visualizations, in a sleek, modern boardroom with a city skyline visible through floor-to-ceiling windows." ![Three people are sitting around a table in a conference room. They are dressed in business attire, with one person wearing a tie. The table is set with a wine glass, a cup, and a book. The scene appears to be a professional meeting or discussion.](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/6de67841-0653-4347-ee49-f68b70170500/original) **Generic prompt: A business meeting with three employees** ![A group of business people sitting around a glass table, with a sunset in the background.](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/fd77d204-7ab4-45e2-e79d-a59c0448af00/original) **Specific prompt: A diverse group of C-suite executives engaged in an energetic strategy session, looking at data visualizations, in a sleek, modern boardroom with a city skyline visible through floor-to-ceiling windows** See how that brings your brand's image to life? The more specific you are, the better the AI can capture your vision. ##### **Leverage Power Words for Impact** As a marketing pro, you know the power of language. Apply that expertise to your AI prompts. Instead of “good software," go for "breakthrough SaaS solution for content managers.” Rather than "helpful," use "redefining" or "ROI-driving." Even if you don’t plan on using these words in marketing materials, using more impactful words will help the AI generate visuals that genuinely resonate. ##### **Infuse Your Brand's Visual Identity** You've worked hard to establish your brand's visual identity. Now, make sure your AI-generated images align with it. Mention your brand colors, preferred art styles, or even industry-specific imagery. For example: "A futuristic network diagram using Blue Granite, Pantone 18-3933, presented in a clean, minimalist infographic style." This ensures consistency across all your marketing materials. ##### **Set the Scene for Success** Context is everything. Don't just focus on your product —paint a picture of the success it brings. Is it a team celebrating after using your product? A before-and-after of a streamlined workflow? These scenarios help potential clients envision the tangible benefits of your solution. ##### **Steer Clear of Unwanted Elements** Some AI models allow for negative prompts. Use this feature to avoid imagery that doesn't align with your brand. For example, if your brand focuses on healthy eating, you might use negative prompts such as "avoid junk food," "no sugary snacks," or "exclude fast food" to ensure the imagery reflects healthy lifestyle choices. If your brand is centered around sustainability, you might include negative prompts such as "no plastic," "avoid pollution," or "exclude non-recyclable materials" to ensure the imagery aligns with eco-friendly values. ##### **Structure Your Prompt for Maximum Impact** Remember those executive summaries you craft? Apply the same principle here. Put the most crucial elements of your desired image at the beginning of your prompt. The AI often prioritizes these initial details. Use commas and periods to separate different aspects of your request. ##### **Iterate, Iterate, Iterate** As with any marketing strategy, perfection comes through iteration. Don't hesitate to generate multiple versions, tweaking one element at a time. It's like A/B testing for visuals—each iteration gets you closer to that perfect image that will make your next pitch deck or white paper truly pop. ##### **Know Your AI's Strengths** Each AI platform has its specialties. Some excel at creating realistic business scenarios, while others might be better for abstract concepts or data visualizations. Get to know the strengths of each tool, just as you would familiarize yourself with different marketing channels. This knowledge will help you choose the right platform for each specific marketing need. ##### **Join Image Generator Communities** There are several image generator communities where you can learn more about writing prompts and connect with others interested in AI-generated art. Here are just a few: **Subreddits:** - **r/midjourney**: A community for users of MidJourney, an AI image generation tool, where people discuss techniques, prompts, and share their art. - **r/dalle2**: This subreddit focuses on OpenAI’s DALLE-2, with discussions on prompt writing, artwork, and tips. - **r/StableDiffusion**: For those interested in Stable Diffusion, join this community, where you can find discussions and resources on prompt writing and generating images. **Discord Servers:** - **MidJourney**: This is the official Discord server for MidJourney users, with channels dedicated to prompt advice, tutorials, and image sharing. - **Stable Diffusion**: This server is focused on Stable Diffusion users that includes a section for prompt discussion and technique refinement. - **Civitai:** Civitai is a Discord server for AI Art and Prompt Engineers with roughly 50,000 members. Ensure your prompts and the resulting images align with industry regulations and respect intellectual property rights. We're aiming to innovate, not imitate. Be sure to save successful image prompts for future reference! With practice, you'll create visuals that are eye-catching and also drive home your brand's message and value proposition. If you’ve been watching the steady decline of traditional demand-gen tactics, you’ve probably sensed this shift, too. We’re at a pivotal moment: AI isn’t just a new tool; it’s accelerating a complete reimagination of the marketing function. Below, I’ll walk you through my predictions for 2025. You’ll notice that many of them center on AI’s impact on marketing—an area where we at Leed have put our stake in the ground by developing an AI-native platform that finally addresses what we believe marketing automation *should* be. #### 1\. AI-Powered Consolidated Platforms Will Transform Marketing and Sales In 2025, AI-powered consolidated platforms will transform marketing and sales, offering increased efficiency and effectiveness. These platforms will seamlessly integrate various marketing functions, from content creation to customer segmentation, into a single, intuitive interface. By leveraging advanced AI algorithms, these consolidated platforms will provide real-time insights, automate routine tasks, and deliver hyper-personalized experiences at scale. Marketers will benefit from predictive analytics that anticipate customer needs and behaviors, allowing for proactive campaign adjustments and more targeted messaging. These platforms will also enhance collaboration across departments by centralizing data and insights, fostering a more cohesive and data-driven approach to marketing and sales strategies. As a result, businesses will be able to streamline their operations, make more informed decisions, and create more impactful customer experiences, ultimately driving higher ROI and maintaining a competitive edge in an increasingly AI-driven marketplace. ##### Related Shifts 1. **Hyper-Personalization at Scale:** With advancements in AI and data analytics, marketers will be able to deliver highly personalized experiences to customers across all touchpoints. This will go beyond basic segmentation to truly individualized content, product recommendations, and interactions 2. **AI-Powered Analytics:** Machine learning algorithms will increasingly be used to predict consumer behavior, optimize ad spending, and automate complex marketing tasks. This will enable more proactive and data-driven decision-making. 3. **Revenue Enablement:** The shift from traditional sales enablement to holistic revenue enablement will continue, with marketing, sales, and customer success teams working more closely together to create seamless buyer experiences. #### 2\. Seat-Based Pricing Will Yield To Subscription Models That Grow with Your Success According to [Forrester’s predictions for 2025](https://www.forrester.com/blogs/predictions-2025-enterprise-software/), consumption-based pricing will become 10% of the price of enterprise software. In 2025, Forrester expects a sharp rise in true consumption-based pricing models. At the same time, CMOs are living with less; [marketing budgets have dropped](https://www.gartner.com/en/marketing/topics/marketing-budget) from an average of 9.1% of company revenue in 2023 to 7.7% in 2024. Given the increasing marketing budget constraints, organizations need simplified and predictable costs. The current tool stack cannot accommodate additional tools, and the budget lacks tolerance for unexpected subscription costs. Traditional seat-based pricing struggles to align with AI’s value proposition—where automation reduces manual labor but increases data processing needs. A tiered consumption model solves this by: 1. Eliminating overprovisioning risks through pay-as-you-go flexibility 2. Incentivizing platform adoption through low-barrier entry points that scale with marketing sophistication 3. Aligning costs with ROI by tying expenses to metrics like engaged accounts or predictive analytics usage Leading AI-powered systems structure tiers around capability maturity rather than user counts. For example, Leed provides: - Starter tier that offers core AI automation for basic web site building, marketing operations, and content delivery - Growth tier unlocks feature sets for clients to execute marketing campaigns, expand marketing operations, and optimize the marketing funnel - Enterprise tier provides a full package for mature organizations looking to expand their account based marketing practices and expand market share #### 3\. Marketing Automation Platforms Will Be Reimagined for the AI Era Conventional marketing automation platforms were built to pump out MQLs and drip campaigns, not to orchestrate the robust, AI-driven conversations that modern B2B buyers now expect. This gap has led many organizations to bolt on AI features—ChatGPT plugins, for example—to outdated tech. It’s like attaching a jet engine to a prop plane. ***What organizations need to do is reimagine their entire marketing infrastructure with AI at its core.*** ##### Enter the Next Wave - **AI-Native Architecture:** Future-ready platforms will eliminate data silos, while integrating buying group intelligence, product analytics, and more, all driven by AI. - **Intuitive Orchestration:** Marketers shouldn’t have to code or rely on a specialist to change a campaign. AI should build, test, and optimize on the fly. - **Holistic Buyer Journeys:** Email, advertising, social, chat, direct mail—every channel must be harmonized around buyer preferences and readiness signals. At Leed, we’ve developed our platform precisely for this moment. Our AI-native approach means you can simply set the strategies and guardrails, then let the system do the heavy lifting—no patchwork or endless applications required. #### 4\. AI-Powered Personalization Will Improve Customer Retention Marketers will benefit from more advanced personalization features, with AI curating tailored customer experiences using user data to send curated content and communications. This kind of advanced personalization can be applied across all customer touchpoints, creating a seamless, highly individualized experience, whether the customer is interacting with a website, mobile app, or email campaign. This level of AI-driven personalization will not only enhance customer engagement but also significantly boost conversion rates and customer lifetime value for businesses. ##### Identifying Buying Groups: A Key Advantage of AI-Powered Personalization One of the significant advantages of AI-powered personalization is its ability to identify and target specific buying groups effectively. By analyzing vast amounts of customer data, AI algorithms can segment customers into distinct groups based on their content consumption, preferences, and demographics. This advanced segmentation allows marketers to tailor their strategies to meet the unique needs of each group, thereby increasing the relevance and effectiveness of marketing efforts. The ability to identify and effectively target specific buying groups gives businesses a significant competitive advantage. It allows them to differentiate themselves by providing unique, relevant experiences that resonate with their target audience. #### 5\. AI Will Make Marketing More Human What excites me most about AI isn’t the possibility of replacing people, but rather *enhancing* what we do best—creative, strategic work that actually moves the needle. AI gives us the freedom to focus on truly human endeavors: building trust, forging relationships, delivering value that resonates on a personal level, and creating better, and more authentic, buying experiences. At Leed, we’re committed to helping marketers make this transition seamlessly and profitably. By offloading the grunt work to AI, you can spend your time on what really matters—community-building, brand storytelling, cutting-edge research, and experiences that can’t be summarized by a machine. After all, if AI can tackle the “-ing” of marketing, you get to concentrate on the “market” itself. It’s an exciting future—one where the best of human insight and AI efficiency converge to create a new era of B2B success. Together, let’s embrace AI in a way that elevates both our work and our relationships! ### Leed Selected for Cloudflare Workers Launchpad Program for Global Startups *Cloudflare Workers Launchpad provides top-tier resources and access to build, scale, and grow promising startups.* Leed is thrilled to participate in the Cloudflare Workers [Launchpad Program cohort #4](https://blog.cloudflare.com/launchpad-cohort4-dev-starter-pack/), along with 36 other growing startups. The problems with this model that we encountered included unpredictable costs from consulting and engineering efforts, bottlenecks from manual hand-offs and repetitive workflows, and unanswered questions despite moving and merging data between multiple applications only to find we still couldn’t answer fundamental questions. Having experienced the pain of these disjointed marketing technologies a few too many times, we decided to take a step back and figure out how to solve this problem. ![A diagram illustrating the roles and responsibilities of a marketing team and the pains of data siloes in marketing workflows.](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/24759d8b-44f5-48f2-db79-5e793920f900/original) We realized that organizations of all sizes deserve a highly efficient and productive marketing team, not just the largest companies in the world like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Oracle. Ultimately, we decided to put engaging and educating the customer at the center of our system and everything grew out of that. The CMS has historically been considered a cornerstone of any marketing organization. However, the reality is that it has often served merely as a repository for final, approved website copy for publishing, effectively functioning as just another data silo and severely hampering the reusability of content across the marketing organization. #### Time for a Change What if, just maybe, the CMS was the central point of interaction for all the content and the marketing team's activities? - What if the marketing plan fed directly into the creation of the content? - What if that plan could connect the marketing campaigns with the content? - What if the workflow was seamless between the creating, editing, and publishing processes, removing all the mundane and manual copy-and-paste activities from the marketing team's process? - Oh, and what if, when the content is published it is just shared to your social channels automatically? - What if landing pages for campaigns were automatically created, with the connected lead capture form gating a key asset, and a follow-up email campaign to nurture the leads? - And, what if all the email marketing, social, and website interactions were gathered in a homogenous system to simply enable the marketing team to succeed by having actionable insights into the performance of the marketing activities? The pressures on most CMOs are staggering - increased pressure to prove return on investment (ROI), attribution challenges, very complex and non-linear buyer journeys, and longer sales cycles to name a few. Marketing needs an optimized solution given the growing demands, reduced budgets, and shorter timelines most organizations are experiencing. #### The Evolution: Generative CMS The Generative CMS represents a significant evolution in content management, offering enhanced efficiency, scalability, and creativity through the power of AI. It combines AI-powered features with human creativity, oversight, and editing to achieve the maximal results. ![A diagram showing the marketing workflow after Leed's Generative CMS, with no data siloes and streamlined workflows.](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/01e2b0a5-f1a8-4751-d5ea-8f524355e600/original) It centralizes and makes available all the content and analytics to drive, enable, and simplify the functions of the marketing team. The purpose of this Generative CMS is to augment human creativity and productivity rather than replacing it, allowing content teams to focus on higher-level strategy and creative tasks while automating more routine aspects of content management. ##### Operational Capabilities The Generative CMS underpins the marketing organization's operations by providing: - Campaign strategy management - Content planning - Website management - Content creation, management, publication, and social posts - Email campaign management - Complete, end-to-end, privacy-oriented analytics. Content flows across all marketing activities, making it logical to manage all related activities together in a single system as opposed to a web of disjointed tools. This directly enables marketing to tailor content for a variety of audiences via a variety of channels to meet the ever-growing set of demands, reduced timelines, and shrinking budgets. The Generative CMS supports and enables every one of the previously mentioned "what if" scenarios through a combination of AI, analytics, and intelligent automation. #### Key Features Here are the key features that set a Generative CMS apart from a traditional CMS. ##### Automated and Assistive Creation By defining your target use cases, by industry and persona, and the types of problems your product can solve, the Generative CMS can suggest content topics and create article outlines to get your writers started. It can also auto-summarize content and share your social posts. ##### Ideation, Planning, and Optimization Management and facilitation of the content plan starts in the Generative CMS. You can begin by building out a buyer journey and associating content to the stages of that journey. Behaviors are then analyzed and used to provide recommendations for the live website, email nurtures, and further planning and ideation. ##### Advanced Tagging, Linking, and SEO By providing simple and consistent labeling of content, the Generative CMS provides very advanced capabilities like linking groups of pages together (e.g., a multipart article series or product announcements). The Generative CMS also can provide automatic linking of keywords to a specific authoritative piece of content on the system. These capabilities reduce the need for marketing to go back and constantly update links between already published pages, which becomes nearly impossible as larger volumes of content are produced. ##### Managing Digital Assets Digital assets, especially audio, video, and documents have a bad habit of keeping their information buried inside them. The Generative CMS can extract and make the contents available for use within the CMS. PDF text is automatically extracted, while video and audio are transcribed and summarized. Unlocking a vast amount of information and enabling marketing to reuse the information as easily as possible. ##### Personalization at Scale Personalization is all about meeting the customer where they are at any given point in time. Recommendations can help to provide the most relevant content to a user to give them a personalized experience. Calls to action (CTA) can be made dynamic based on the user, instead of having a static CTA which becomes stale within a few months. Most important to a marketing team is the ability to personalize every email nurture to the specific user. ##### Comprehensive Analytics While individual point solutions provide siloed analytics, a significant benefit of the Generative CMS is that its holistic view of content and analytics can provide contextualized insights for each use case. General website performance, email analytics, and even social inbound can be combined to provide a complete picture as well as a correlation to events. Generative CMS analytics quickly become more advanced than any other analytics system available to marketing. #### The Future of Content Management Every content management system or adjacent technology is trying to provide generative capabilities to their system. And while they may solve a specific problem, they are missing the forest for the trees, which leaves marketers with a disjointed tech stack and limited analytics. Technology sprawl and data silos are silently hindering every action of the marketing organization. The job of the CMS has expanded. Don't be left behind. The Generative CMS is the cure for an over-tooled, maxed-out digital team. We invite you to learn more about Leed's Generative CMS and see how it can streamline your marketing organization. ### Elevate Your Content Strategy with Strategic Tagging Implementing a robust content tagging strategy not only makes your digital assets more accessible but also enhances their relevance to users—significantly improving the user experience. [Research](https://6sense.com/blog/dont-call-us-well-call-you-what-research-says-about-when-b2b-buyers-reach-out-to-sellers/#:~:text=The%20growth%20of%20digital%20technology,process%20is%20now%20done%20digitally.) shows that decision-makers conduct 50% to 70% of their research online before contacting vendors. This makes it critical for your content to be easily discoverable and contextually relevant when recommended on your website. In my previous [blog post](pageid:7721cd4a-8998-4f7d-bbef-297620ffe209), I covered the basics of tagging and how to implement a tagging strategy to enhance user experience. Now, let’s explore how refining your use of keywords, labels, and metadata strategies can significantly improve the customer journey. ##### Strategic Content Tagging By using advanced tagging strategies, you can create a more intuitive and engaging experience for your target customers. Let's look at how keywords, labels, and metadata can transform your content strategy. ##### Keywords: Laying the Foundation Keywords are essential for helping your audience find your content. Since many buying decisions involve multiple stakeholders, broadening your keyword strategy is crucial to reach everyone involved. - **Semantic Keywords** Incorporate related terms to improve content relevance. If your main keyword is "supply chain optimization," include terms like "inventory management," "demand forecasting," and "logistics efficiency" to address various perspectives. - **Long-tail Keywords** Use specific, industry-focused long-tail keywords for high-intent searches. Instead of just "cloud computing," try "enterprise-grade cloud security solutions for financial institutions." - **Keyword Clustering** Group similar keywords to create comprehensive content hubs. This approach enhances SEO but also keeps your audience engaged longer. Implementing these keyword strategies boosts your content's visibility in search results. When decision-makers find your content, it should effectively answer their questions, creating a positive first impression. ##### Labels: Creating Intuitive Navigation Labels categorize your content into broader themes, making it easier for customers to navigate your site and quickly find related information. - **Industry Verticals** Create labels for different industries like "Healthcare," "Finance," or "Manufacturing" to help visitors find sector-specific content quickly. - **Solution Categories** Organize content by solution types you offer, such as "Data Analytics," "Cybersecurity," or "Digital Transformation," This structure helps buyers explore specific solutions. - **Content Formats** Label content by type (e.g., "Case Studies," "Whitepapers," or "Webinars") to cater to different preferences and buying stages. - **Buyer Persona Labels** Develop labels that align with various roles in the buying process, like "CTO Resources" or "CFO Insights." A well-structured labeling system creates clear pathways through your content, enhancing user experience by allowing professionals to efficiently find the information they need. ##### Metadata: Enhancing Context and Personalization Metadata adds context to your content, improving searchability and enabling personalized user experiences. - **Author Information** Include details about the authors’ expertise and roles to build credibility and help users find content from specific thought leaders within your organization. - **Publication Date** Clearly display when content was published or last updated. Timely information is critical for decision-making in fast-moving industries. - **Content Depth** Use metadata to indicate whether content is “Beginner,” “Intermediate,” or “Advanced.” This helps users quickly assess if the material matches their expertise level. - **Related Products or Services** Tag content with relevant product or service information to drive recommendations for related solutions as buyers engage with your content. - **Geographic Relevance** For global companies, include metadata about geographic applicability to ensure users see content relevant to their region's regulations or market conditions. Effective use of metadata opens up opportunities for personalized experiences. Returning visitors can be shown tailored content based on their previous interactions, increasing engagement. ##### Integrating Strategies for Maximum Impact The true power of content tagging lies in keywords, labels, and metadata to create a superior customer experience: 1. **Personalized Content Journeys** Use keyword data, labels, and user metadata to create personalized content paths. Present increasingly relevant content based on customer interactions with your site. 2. **Content Recommendations** Leverage tags to power recommendation engines. Suggest related content based on shared keywords and labels when users engage with a piece of content. 3. **Automated Lead Scoring** Analyze engagement with tagged content to refine lead scoring models. Interactions with advanced-level material in specific areas can indicate high-value leads ready for outreach. 4. **Content Gap Analysis** Review your content library through the lens of tagging to identify areas where new content is needed based on specific keywords or buyer personas. By implementing these integrated strategies, you build a content ecosystem that not only answers immediate questions but also anticipates further inquiries along the buying journey. This robust organization significantly enhances overall customer experience, building trust and engagement that lead to conversions. Mastering the strategic use of keywords, labels, and metadata is about more than just improving organization; it's about creating a responsive and intelligent experience that meets the complex needs of buyers and buying committees alike. As content managers, leveraging these strategies will position your content to be more effective, accessible, and impactful in driving business goals. ### Should I Design My Own Website? ##### *Drag-and-Drop CMSes versus Dedicated Web Developers* ##### The Dilemma of Website Redesign Rebranding your high-traffic website is no small feat. As a marketing leader, you’re probably weighing whether to take the DIY route with a drag-and-drop editor or hire professional web developers. The question looms:*Is there really that much of a difference?* Spoiler alert: there is! Let’s break it down so you can make an informed decision. ##### Drag and Drop Web Editors: The DIY Approach Drag and drop editors like those which can be used within WordPress (via plugins), Webflow, and Wix support even the most novice users. They’re accessible, affordable, and perfect for new companies and small businesses. **Pros of Drag-and-Drop Editors** User-Friendly Interface Even if you can't tell HTML from CSS, drag-and-drop editors have got your back. These tools are designed for non-techies, allowing you to create a website by simply dragging and dropping elements into place. Speed and Efficiency Time is money, right? With drag-and-drop editors, you can build your site faster than you can say "web development." You'll see changes in real time, which is a huge time-saver. Cost-Effectiveness Does anyone out there have a tight budget? I’m guessing (quite confidently) the answer is yes. Drag-and-drop editors might be your saving grace. Many offer free plans or affordable subscriptions, making them ideal for startups or small businesses with extra tight budgets. Built-in Templates and Themes These editors usually come with large libraries of pre-designed templates and themes, helping you achieve a professional look without breaking a sweat—or needing to hire a designer. **Cons of Drag-and-Drop Editors** Limited Customization Here's where things get a bit sticky. If you have a specific vision for your site, drag-and-drop editors might leave you feeling like a square peg in a round hole. They often lack the flexibility for truly unique, standout designs. Performance Issues at Scale Sometimes drag-and-drop editors can generate bloated code, which might slow down your site as traffic grows and hurt your SEO. For smaller companies with less traffic, performance issues are probably not your number one concern. But as more people visit and more is asked of your site, you’ll start to see things lagging in terms of both user experience and SEO performance. Generic Design Concerns Let's be honest, nobody wants their website to look like it came from a cookie-cutter. With templates used by thousands, it may seem shallow, but standing out can be a challenge. ##### Hiring Web Developers: The Professional Approach For those seeking more customization and scalability, hiring web developers is the only way to go. Web developers can be hired to customize the templates in CMSes like WordPress. However, leveraging these web developers to only customize a cookie-cutter template doesn’t really deliver the same value as a fully optimized user experience. **Pros of Hiring Web Developers** Expertise and Customization Experienced web developers are valuable resources. They can make just about anything you dream up possible and can whip up a website that's tailored specifically for your brand, ensuring it stands out from competitors. Scalability and Complex Functionality As your business expands, your team can scale your website to meet increasing demands. They can handle complex features and integrations that might make a drag-and-drop editor throw in the towel. **Cons of Hiring Web Developers** Higher Initial Costs Let's not sugarcoat it—hiring developers can be expensive. Finding tools and systems that allow these resources to focus on high-value design and implementation work (not low-value work like content tweaking) will be paramount. Longer Development Time The development process can take longer to start, which might test your patience if you're eager to launch. Over time, changes will be faster and it is likely to provide a substantial benefit to your website deliverable timelines. These risks can be mitigated with the right tooling that allows web developers to work collaboratively with your team to get things done correctly and on time. Ongoing Dependency on Developers Once you go custom, you're in it for the long haul. You'll likely need developers for updates and maintenance, creating a long-term dependency. But remember, HTML, CSS and Javascript are web standards and finding good help isn’t the most difficult problem to solve. ##### How to Decide What’s Best **Factors to Consider for High-Traffic Websites** Scalability (Performance and Security) A fast-loading, secure website is essential for high traffic. Consider how each option impacts your site's performance and ensure your choice supports your goals. For example, in the last year, WordPress has been in the news numerous times for issues with SQL injection vulnerabilities. SEO Optimization Capabilities Your beautiful new site won't matter if no one can find it. Evaluate how well each approach supports SEO requirements like clean code, metadata customization, and even page load speeds. Integration with Existing Systems Your website doesn't exist in a vacuum. It needs to play nice with your other business systems. This is why, at Leed, we have built the CMS alongside other important marketing tools like lead capture/nurturing and in-depth analytics with a strong focus on first-party data. **Making the Right Choice for Your Rebranding Project** Assess Your Technical Resources Take stock of your in-house capabilities. Does your team have the skills to manage a drag-and-drop editor, or do you need professional expertise? Evaluate Budget and Timeline Be realistic about your budget and launch date. Sometimes, the cheapest option isn’t the fastest—or the best long-term investment. Oftentimes, trying to customize a free template to do what you want takes more effort than starting new. Consider Future Growth and Scalability Think long-term. Will the solution you choose today still work as your business scales in the next few years? ##### Balancing Ease of Use with Professional Results The best choice depends on your specific needs, resources, and goals. And there isn’t necessarily going to be a clear-cut answer. For high-traffic  sites, for example, you may want the customization and scale of a professional firm. This is what we are solving at Leed by providing a Generative CMS that supports various marketing workflows within the same platform, including developer-friendly tooling for the front-end web design. No matter which path you choose, remember this: your website is often the first impression customers have of your brand. Make it count! ### Streamline Your Content Workflow: From Chaos to Launch-Ready Content creation shouldn't feel like herding cats. Yet for most digital marketing teams, managing the journey from initial brainstorm to published piece remains frustratingly complex. Missed deadlines, duplicated efforts, and approval bottlenecks plague even the most well-intentioned campaigns. The good news is that these challenges aren't inevitable. With strategic workflow optimization, your team can transform content creation from a chaotic scramble into a smooth, predictable process that consistently delivers results. #### **Hidden Productivity Killers** Most content teams unknowingly sabotage their own efficiency. The culprits are often hiding in plain sight: - Communication breakdowns between writers, designers, and strategists lead to misaligned content that misses the mark - Duplicated efforts waste precious time when teams work in silos without shared visibility - Manual approval processes create bottlenecks that turn quick reviews into week-long delays Perhaps most damaging is the lack of centralized information. When project status, feedback, and deadlines live scattered across emails, spreadsheets, and chat threads, teams spend more time hunting for updates than creating compelling content. The cost of these inefficiencies extends beyond wasted time. Teams operating without streamlined workflows often experience higher turnover rates, as creative professionals become frustrated with administrative overhead that prevents them from doing their best work. This creates a vicious cycle where knowledge walks out the door, further complicating content operations. #### **Build A Content Command Center** Effective content workflows start with centralized planning and seamless collaboration. Your team needs instant access to project status, deadlines, and performance insights to make informed decisions quickly. An ideal content command center provides the entire team: 1. Planning details for content and campaigns 2. Deadlines and status updates at a glance  3. Real-time performance details for content and campaigns A collaborative content calendar keeps everyone aligned on deadlines and project priorities, while real-time updates eliminate the confusion that comes with constant schedule changes. Most importantly, integrated performance data helps you double down on what works and pivot away from what doesn't. #### **Collaborate Without the Chaos** Great content emerges from great teamwork. But when writers, editors, designers, and strategists work without shared tools, collaboration becomes a coordination nightmare. Shared content workspaces solve this challenge by giving everyone access to drafts, edits, and feedback in one central location. Automated workflows handle routine updates, freeing your team to focus on creative work. Built-in version control ensures everyone works from the latest draft, eliminating the costly mistakes that come from outdated versions. #### **Turn Approvals from Bottleneck to Breeze** Traditional approval processes are workflow killers. Endless email chains, scattered feedback, and unclear ownership turn simple reviews into complex puzzles that slow everything down. In fact, [41% of marketers](https://www.demandsage.com/content-marketing-statistics) identify workflow issues and content approval processes as significant challenges in content marketing. With Leed, you can cut through approval chaos with purpose-built features that keep content moving. Automated reminders ensure reviewers stay on track without manual follow-ups. Clear approval workflows make next steps obvious, preventing content from stalling in limbo. Detailed audit trails capture all feedback and changes, maintaining transparency while ensuring compliance. ![ALT_TEXT](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/520f0b8a-c8bf-4a94-3a15-132fedadef00/original) #### **Deploy with Precision and Speed** Publishing great content at the wrong time is like hosting a party when everyone's out of town. Strategic deployment maximizes your content's impact by reaching audiences when they're most engaged. - Automated scheduling enables you to:
Plan multi-channel campaigns in advance, ensuring perfect timing across blogs, social media, and email - Publish simultaneously, eliminating the tedious process of manually posting to multiple platforms - Reduce manual work while minimizing errors via seamless integrations with your existing CMS and marketing tools #### **Measure, Learn, Improve, Repeat** The best content workflows don't just create great content. They get better over time. Continuous improvement requires data-driven insights that reveal what's working, what isn't, and where opportunities lie. Leed's integrated analytics provide comprehensive performance measurement, from engagement rates to conversion tracking. With real-time insights, you can make quick strategy adjustments based on immediate feedback. User-friendly dashboards present complex data in digestible formats so that your team can make smarter decisions faster. #### **Your Workflow Transformation Starts Here** Optimizing your content workflow isn't about implementing new tools. It's about reimagining how great content comes to life. When ideation, creation, approval, and distribution flow seamlessly together, your marketing team can focus on what they do best: creating content that connects, converts, and drives results. The transformation doesn't happen overnight, but the benefits compound quickly. Teams that commit to workflow optimization often see improvements within the first month. Initial wins include faster project completion times, reduced stress levels, and improved content quality as teams spend less time on coordination and more time on exceptional creative work. Leed doesn't just solve today's workflow challenges. It builds the foundation for scalable, efficient content operations that grow with your business. As your team expands and your content volume increases, optimized workflows become even more critical to consistently maintaining quality and meeting deadlines. ### The Art of Content Tagging for a Better User Experience Providing content to users at just the right moment creates a smooth and engaging user experience that accelerates the customer journey. A strategic tagging approach is essential for creating this seamless experience, ensuring engaging and timely content. Effective tagging not only makes your digital content more accessible and relevant but also transforms user interaction. Let's look into content tagging and how it can significantly improve the user experience on your site. ##### Understanding Content Tagging Content tagging involves adding keywords, labels, and other metadata to digital content, which act as descriptors to help users and systems better understand and categorize the material. There are various types of tags, including: 1. Keywords: Specific terms that directly relate to the content 2. Labels: Broad groupings of content 3. Metadata: Additional information, beyond keywords and labels, such as author, date, or file type When implemented correctly, tagging enhances searchability, improves content organization, and streamlines user navigation. ##### The Impact of Tagging on User Experience Effective tagging can dramatically improve user experience in several ways. It enables improved content discoverability, allowing users to quickly find relevant information using tags as search filters. Tags also create intuitive pathways through your content, enhancing navigation and allowing users to explore related topics easily. Additionally, by analyzing user interactions with tagged content, you can offer more accurate and relevant personalized content recommendations. These improvements lead to increased user satisfaction, longer engagement times, and ultimately, better conversion rates. ##### Best Practices for Content Tagging To maximize the benefits of content tagging, establish clear guidelines for tag creation to ensure uniformity across your content. Use a mix of broad and specific tags to cater to different user search behaviors, balancing specificity and generality. ##### Implementing a Tagging Strategy Developing an effective tagging strategy involves several key steps. 1. **Identify Relevant Terms:** Begin by researching the terms and words that are significant to your target audience. Understand what they are searching for to ensure your tags resonate with their needs and interests. 2. **Develop a Tag Taxonomy:** Build a structured list of approved tags that align with your content and meet user needs. This taxonomy should be comprehensive yet flexible enough to adapt to evolving content strategies. 3. **Educate Your Team:** Ensure all team members are well-versed in the tagging guidelines and understand their importance through proper training.  4. **Regular Review and Optimization:** Continuously assess and refine your tagging system based on user behavior and feedback. This ongoing optimization helps maintain the relevance and effectiveness of your tags. 5. **Balance Detail and Simplicity:** Your goal should be to create a tagging strategy that is neither overly complex nor too simplistic. Aim for a balance that is “just right,” using a mix of specific keywords and broader terms that align with your marketing objectives. One-word tags are often too broad. For example, 'data' or 'product' are probably too broad for tags. Instead, 'customer data' or 'product release' provides some detail. This approach will enhance user engagement and improve content discoverability. By implementing a clear and thoughtful tagging strategy, you can effectively align your tags with your marketing goals and improve user interaction with your content. ##### Measure the Success of Your Tagging Efforts To evaluate the effectiveness of your tagging strategy, track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as search relevance, click-through rates, and time on page. Monitor how frequently tagged content appears in search results and its ranking. Measure how often users click on recommendations and analyze whether users spend more time on properly tagged content. Use analytics tools to track these metrics comprehensively. ##### Common Pitfalls to Avoid When developing a tagging strategy, it’s important to avoid common mistakes such as inconsistent tagging, neglecting tag maintenance, and ignoring user behavior. Inconsistent tag usage across content can create confusion and reduce the effectiveness of your tagging system. Regularly reviewing and updating tags is essential, as content and business goals evolve over time. Failing to do so can lead to outdated and irrelevant categorization. Also, not aligning tags with the actual terms and phrases your audience uses can hinder content discoverability. By being mindful of these pitfalls, you can enhance the efficiency and impact of your tagging strategy. Content tagging is a powerful tool for enhancing the user experience on your site. By implementing a thoughtful tagging strategy, you can improve content discoverability, streamline navigation, and provide more personalized experiences for your users. Remember to maintain consistency, regularly review your tagging system, and always prioritize user needs in your tagging efforts. By following these practices, you'll be well on your way to mastering the art of content tagging and delivering an exceptional user experience. Next, we’ll go into more detail about how keywords, labels, and metadata strategies can impact your customer experience. ### From Data to Decisions: Leveraging Generative AI in Content Marketing As digital strategies evolve, businesses face mounting challenges in creating, managing, and scaling content effectively. Traditional content management systems (CMSs) have long served as the backbone of digital strategies, but these legacy platforms are beginning to show their limitations. With content needs rapidly growing and consumer expectations shifting, it’s time for marketing leaders to rethink their approach. Generative AI offers a transformative solution that enables businesses to stay agile, personalized, and efficient. ##### **The Limitations of a Traditional CMS** Traditional CMS platforms were designed for managing static websites and structured content. However, as content demands have exploded across channels, this architecture poses several challenges: 1. **Content Silos**: Traditional CMS tools often lead to fragmented data and disjointed experiences due to isolated content repositories. This results in content being spread across multiple platforms and systems, creating barriers for marketing teams looking to deliver unified experiences. For example, when marketing teams work across disconnected platforms, campaign data and analytics often remain in silos, making it difficult to extract insights or measure campaign performance cohesively. 2. **Manual Updates**: Managing content updates across various platforms becomes a cumbersome and time-consuming process. In competitive markets, companies need to stay relevant with real-time updates and content iterations. Traditional CMS systems lack the agility to make instant changes across multiple channels, causing lags in communication and outdated information. 3. **Scaling Complexities**: With the explosion of personalized marketing and digital engagement, delivering scalable, personalized experiences is essential. However, traditional CMSs struggle to handle this increased volume and variety of content efficiently. The rigidity of these systems limits the ability to expand content initiatives without increasing manual effort exponentially. For marketing leaders, these challenges mean missed opportunities, slower execution, and reduced efficiency, hindering their ability to meet audience expectations at scale. ##### **The AI Advantage: Transforming Content Strategy** Generative AI brings a paradigm shift by addressing these CMS limitations head-on. By leveraging AI capabilities, marketing teams can benefit from increased content efficiency, personalization, and relevance. Here’s how generative AI elevates content strategies: 1. **Enhanced Efficiency**: Generative AI allows for the automation of routine content tasks such as content updates, image creation, and multichannel publishing. With AI-driven automation, marketing teams can focus their efforts on strategy and creativity instead of repetitive tasks like image creation and social media posting. 2. **Predictive Analytics**: Generative AI excels in analyzing large volumes of user behavior data to uncover patterns and predict future behavior. This predictive capability allows marketing leaders to shift from a reactive approach to a proactive one, creating strategies that anticipate audience needs and preferences. For instance, AI can analyze user journeys to determine which touchpoints are most likely to lead to conversions, helping marketers optimize their strategies for maximum impact. 3. **Personalization at Scale**: Traditional systems rely heavily on generic personas and segmentation. AI, on the other hand, can deliver individualized experiences by processing real-time data. It enables marketers to dynamically adjust messaging and content recommendations based on each user’s context and behavior, thereby driving higher engagement and satisfaction. ##### **Hyper-Personalization: The AI-Driven Edge** One of the most powerful capabilities of generative AI is hyper-personalization. Traditional content management systems often rely on segmented personas and manual tagging, which leads to generalized content delivery. Generative AI elevates this approach by delivering targeted experiences tailored to individual needs in real time. For example, consider an enterprise B2B software company using AI to enhance its content strategy. By integrating generative AI tools, the company can analyze thousands of data points, tracking metrics like user engagement, preferences, pain points, and buying intent. Based on this analysis, the system suggests the next logical product feature page or case study to explore, creating a seamless and highly relevant user journey. This kind of hyper-personalization deepens audience engagement and drives conversion rates significantly. ![ALT_TEXT](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXfmqxbZk4a5BN_6gQkhUDYp22ctugKVQQM9QcfLioqLVgxpIPz5fOwjxYG61jbTllUcZN79yaNSrPv4xm80lbvGwx-eCPjHs6mzirwzGA3uJK64YTITMvlUDpRR18WrFeaboLdThy8BGQGRc5nFjy_nLEYj?key=yAWNCoembYH4W2RPeDNO_Q) ##### **The Future of Content Strategy with Generative AI** Generative AI’s role in content creation and management is expanding rapidly. To stay competitive, marketing leaders should monitor these emerging features: - **AI-Driven Content Creation**: AI tools are increasingly being used to assist in creating everything from blog drafts to custom images and automated video transcripts. This capability not only reduces the workload for content teams but also accelerates production timelines, allowing companies to stay agile and responsive. - **Automated Insights**: As AI capabilities mature, automated insights will become crucial in content strategy. AI systems will not only suggest new content topics but also predict the potential performance of these topics based on historical data. This means more data-driven decision-making and improved resource allocation. - **Real-Time Adaptability**: AI tools are moving towards real-time adaptability, dynamically adjusting content based on immediate feedback and interactions. This means more responsive websites and marketing campaigns that can pivot as user behavior changes. ##### **Actionable Insights to Evolve Your Content Strategy** As AI becomes more integrated into content management, marketing leaders have an opportunity to refine their strategies to stay ahead. This shift isn’t just about adopting the latest tools; it’s about reassessing current workflows, finding areas for improvement, and aligning new technology with business objectives. Navigating content strategy in the age of generative AI requires forward-thinking and a willingness to embrace new technologies. Marketing leaders need to evolve their approach by leveraging AI to drive efficiency, personalization, and relevance. With a Generative CMS system like Leed that can scale content production and personalize user experiences, marketing leaders can better engage their audiences and drive business growth. ### The New Cornerstone of Marketing: The Generative CMS Historically, the CMS is considered a cornerstone of any marketing organization. However, the reality is that it usually serves merely as a repository for the final, approved website copy ready for publishing, effectively functioning as yet another data silo. #### Time for a Change A Generative CMS is **not** a data silo. The Generative CMS represents a significant evolution in content management, offering enhanced efficiency, scalability, and creativity through the power of AI. It combines AI-powered features with human creativity, oversight, and editing to achieve the maximal results. ![A diagram illustrating the simplification of marketing workflows when switching to a Generative CMS](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/00a463ed-a06c-4615-3c77-0a822b0b3e00/original) The purpose of the Generative CMS is to augment human creativity and productivity rather than replace it, allowing content teams to focus on higher-level strategy and creative tasks while automating more routine aspects of content management. ##### Integrated Marketing Operations The Generative CMS underpins the marketing organization's operations. For a CMS to be considered a Generative CMS, it must provide fully integrated: - Campaign strategy management - Content planning - Site design and management - Collaboration for content creation, management, and deployment - Email campaign management - Complete end-to-end, privacy-oriented analytics. A cohesive content plan drives all of those marketing activities, so it is only logical that they should be managed together. How else can a marketer be expected to successfully tailor content for multiple audiences while managing growing demands, reduced timelines, and shrinking budgets? ##### Automated and Assistive Creation A generative CMS can automatically generate high-quality content based on specified topics, interests, industries, and personas, all within a context relevant to the marketer's intentions. This reduces the need for extensive human intervention in content creation, validation, and publishing, thereby saving time and resources. While current large language models can certainly create content, companies need to focus on their area of expertise to build up a portfolio of original content for their target audience. Leveraging their original content into new content is where the Generative CMS removes a big burden. This capability could significantly speed up content production and help maintain a consistent flow of targeted fresh content. ##### Ideation, Planning and Optimization Over time, as users visit your site, you get a clearer picture of who your audience is and how effective your content, campaigns, and website are at serving them. The information gathered about their interests, engagement, and behaviors is critical to the effectiveness of a Generative CMS, because without it there is no feedback loop to know what is working. Unlike a Generative CMS, a traditional CMS provides no context for these analytics, so marketers must rely upon external services like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or some other expensive and privacy-invading service for analytics. The content from the traditional CMS must be brought integrated with those analytics into a third system to gather the information necessary to create an ideation feedback loop, informing what strategies are effective. The Generative CMS, on the other hand, has all the context of your targeted personas, industries, and use cases to be able to suggest or guide how to engage that audience. It can automate the creation of marketing landing pages, email campaign workflows, email copy, and data collection from the emails. This allows for fully automated marketing campaigns with minimal human oversight. ##### Automated Tagging, Linking, and SEO The traditional CMS provides a mix of tags, labels, and categories that require human intervention. Tags, labels, and categories are important to a CMS; however, most people in most marketing organizations don't know the right time to use which of these items because it is really overly complex and doesn't often aid in creating a better user experience. Instead, the Generative CMS provides much more advanced capabilities. While labels are created by humans and are a good starting point, the Generative CMS can enhance the experience. Linking related content is critical to content management. Imagine a series of product release announcements for your website. Each month your team puts together a new release and someone has to find and edit all the related pages on the website to link them together so that if, via organic search, a user finds a product release announcement from three years ago, they have a direct link to the latest announcement, or a direct link to see all the product release announcements. A Generative CMS provides the capability to automatically link and update past content within a long series in addition to a simple multi-part article series. Imagine a five-part series on how to build a droid with a Raspberry Pi. Each article would require the marketer to edit each previous page to link to each new article in the series. The Generative CMS must provide the capability of the box to simply automate this task. Additionally, a consistent linking strategy strengthens a site's SEO. Automatically linking the first instance of a targeted term on a page to an authoritative page on your site, and even suggesting other similar terms to link to that authoritative page, is a hallmark capability of a Generative CMS. ##### Digital Assets In a traditional CMS, images, documents, and videos are often an afterthought. They don't have a place to belong in those systems, and if these assets are included it is like a square-peg in a round-hole. Traditional CMSs were not built to manage those assets. A Generative CMS, on the other hand, **must** account for these assets out-of-the-gate. They are critical to all content getting published. The models within the Generative CMS can create realistic images from simple text descriptions and they can also generate descriptions or alt text from images. Both eliminate many steps in the workflow of bringing digital assets into the content. The same goes for documents and videos. Why would the marketing team want to jump through the complexities of using other systems for these materials when they are so critical to the content meant for your audience? Storing videos in the Generative CMS enables quick, automatic transcribing and summarization of the video content, enriching the experience for the audience. Content contained in PDF and Word Documents can also be mined in the same way. Imagine the time savings the Generative CMS provides by directly accessing the content of a PDF white paper; the system can automatically create a new landing page to gate that PDF. The integration of formatted asset files into the Generative CMS provides simplified and powerful publishing workflows and enriches the data yielding complete site and content analytics. ##### Personalization at Scale The traditional CMS is a data silo, separate from the detailed performance analytics and the entire marketing plan, which makes personalization a costly and time-consuming effort. The Generative CMS, on the other hand, has access to all the content and all the analytics and performance information, providing the opportunity to personalize at scale. The most effective way to engage further with a visitor is through personalized recommendations. Recommendations feed the entirety of the system. - Suggesting content to a new or returning visitor on the website creates an opportunity to build trust and to gauge a user's interest. - Curating an email nurture campaign targeting each individual. - Providing a dynamic call-to-action on each page of the website. Setting up, creating the content, and planning a successful email campaign requires a lot of steps in a long workflow. The Generative CMS simplifies the entire workflow because it already has all the content and engagement data. It can help create the landing pages, it can help tailor the email messages, even on a per-user basis. Ensuring that content on the website stays fresh and accurate is a huge task. The calls to action put at the end of a blog usually have a shelf life of three months or less. No marketing team has the bandwidth to regularly review and edit every blog published to update the call-to-action. Instead, the Generative CMS can dynamically provide a relevant call to action for that user, in the moment. ##### Analytics Because the Generative CMS will collect and analyze the performance of the website directly, It can identify and even suggest system-wide improvements to the website without relying on third-party analytics. A true Generative CMS must not and cannot depend on external services. It must use first-party data and be privacy-oriented to protect visitors from being tracked all over the internet. The analytics collected by the Generative CMS need to be complete. That means they must account for: - Site traffic, including active time on the page - Video analytics, including where users paused in the videos - Buttons and links clicked - How far into a page did a user make it - Form data collection and validation information - Email campaign analytics The Generative CMS cannot rely on external third-party data because it must be able to use the freshest data to react in the moment. It also must be able to deliver what marketing needs. Not just data, but actionable information. It must be able to provide things like: - Event correlation; why there was a traffic spike - Account grouping; what groups of users comprise an account - On any given page of the site, what is working and what is not - Pipeline analytics; customer journey ##### Other Areas For consistent adherence to policies and guidelines, the Generative CMS can check content for factual accuracy, brand consistency, and application of style guidelines before publication. When the need arises for content in multiple languages, the Generative CMS can instantly translate content into multiple languages, making it easier to reach a global audience reducing the expense of completely manual translation efforts and allowing content to be quickly adapted for markets. #### The next evolution in content management The marketing landscape is changing quickly. Most B2B technology companies have between three and fifteen different tools to run their marketing operations. They do not work together without some form of engineering integration, which is usually fragile and very expensive. The Generative CMS is not an optional technology; it is a requirement if you do not want to be left behind. ### Converting Data into Actionable Metrics: Research and Best Practices As the digital world evolves, businesses face a familiar but growing challenge: turning an overwhelming volume of data into meaningful insights. Put another way, many organizations are “drowning in data but starving for insights.” This research paper dives deeper into the complexities of transforming raw data into actionable metrics that drive business decisions, with a particular focus on addressing data overload, quality challenges, and the evolving dynamics of B2B buying committees. Recent studies and expert insights show that the most successful organizations aren't just collecting more data—they're fundamentally rethinking how they extract, interpret, and act on the metrics that matter. #### The Data Complexity Crisis: Why More Isn't Better Marketing teams are facing an unprecedented surge in both the volume and variety of data. This isn't just a matter of quantity, but a multidimensional challenge that affects decision-making across organizations. Recent research shows that data silos are among the most pressing issues, disrupting workflows and stalling strategic progress. IBM's *Data Differentiator* [report](https://www.ibm.com/think/topics/data-intelligence) reveals that 82% of enterprises experience critical workflow disruptions due to siloed data, while a staggering 68% of enterprise data remains completely unanalyzed. This fragmentation makes it nearly impossible to develop the clear, comprehensive insights needed to guide strategic decision-making. #### How Data Complexity Shows Up ##### Volume Overload Marketing teams now process terabytes of data daily—spanning social media interactions, website behaviors, transaction records, and customer communications. This exponential growth requires sophisticated infrastructure that many organizations still lack. The problem isn't just storage; it's connecting disparate data points to uncover patterns that drive action, rather than overwhelming analysts with raw numbers. ##### Fragmentation Across Systems "Data silos lead to fragmented customer profiles, duplicate records, and outdated information, making it difficult to derive actionable insights," notes a recent [article](https://www.dataguard.com/blog/data-silos-boosting-marketing-team-performance/) from DataGuard. These silos are often rooted in legacy systems, departmental separation, and disparate software, all of which prevent effective information sharing. The cost of this disconnection is substantial, with McKinsey & Company [finding](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/data-unification-breaking-down-silos-kartaca) that data silos cost businesses an average of $3.1 trillion each year in lost revenue and productivity. When marketing data lives in one system and sales data in another, the result is a fractured view of the customer journey. Key impacts of siloed data collection include: 1. **Incomplete Customer Profiles**: Without integrated data, organizations miss opportunities for personalized experiences and targeted offerings. 2. **Inconsistent Data Quality**: Different systems enforce varying data standards, leading to unreliable analytics. 3. **Temporal Gaps**: Asynchronous data updates create discrepancies in time-sensitive information. 4. **Analytical Blind Spots**: Without integrated systems, cross-functional analysis is nearly impossible, limiting innovation potential. ##### Declining Data Quality Perhaps most concerning is the declining quality of marketing data. [Research](https://corvidae.ai/blog/how-corvidae-delivers-exceptional-attribution-accuracy/) from [Corvidae.ai](https://corvidae.ai) found that "it's highly likely your core analytics data is 80% wrong." The culprit? Flawed attribution models, poor integration between systems, and inconsistent data collection practices. The consequences are severe: marketing teams make decisions based on fundamentally flawed information, leading to misallocated resources and missed opportunities for engagement. #### From Raw Data to Actionable Intelligence Transforming overwhelming data into actionable metrics requires a systematic approach that addresses collection, analysis, and application. Based on recent research, five critical steps can help organizations build that bridge. ##### 1\. Define Clear Business Objectives First Before diving into data collection, successful organizations establish specific, measurable goals tied to business outcomes. As DashClicks [notes](https://www.dashclicks.com/blog/how-to-track-custom-goals-using-dashclicks), "Before delving into the data, it's crucial to establish what you're aiming to achieve with your marketing efforts. Clear objectives not only guide your analysis but also ensure that the insights you derive are relevant and actionable." This objective-first approach ensures metrics directly connect to strategic priorities rather than generating interesting but ultimately irrelevant analyses. ##### 2\. Implement Data Quality Frameworks Quality issues undermine even the most sophisticated analytics initiatives. Successful organizations implement governance frameworks that ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability across sources. A structured approach to data quality includes: - Regular audits of data collection mechanisms - Clear standards for data formatting and entry - Automated validation processes to identify inconsistencies - Cross-system reconciliation to eliminate contradictory information ##### 3\. Focus on Actionable Metrics—Not Vanity Metrics Not all metrics carry equal value. Organizations seeing the greatest success distinguish between vanity metrics (like total page views) and actionable metrics that directly inform decisions. HeyMarvin's [research](https://heymarvin.com/resources/actionable-insights/) notes that actionable insights "are nuggets of information that guide your next steps. They're not just raw data — they tell you what to do." This distinction helps teams avoid the trap of collecting impressive-looking statistics that fail to drive meaningful action. ##### 4\. Implement Effective Data Segmentation Organizing data into relevant buckets—by persona, behavior, geography, or lifecycle stage—turns overwhelming volumes into targeted insights. As HeyMarvin recommends, "Use tags, categories, or themes to sort data into buckets that make sense for your goals." By examining information through different lenses, organizations uncover nuanced insights that would remain hidden in aggregate analyses. ##### 5\. Connect Insights to Specific Actions The final and most crucial step involves translating insights into clear, specific actions. GoodData [emphasizes](https://www.gooddata.com/blog/4-secrets-turn-data-insights/) that actionable insights are "data-driven findings that lead to specific, meaningful actions." Without this crucial connection, even the most sophisticated analytics remain intellectual exercises rather than drivers of business value. #### The Buying Committee Revolution: New Data Needs for B2B Success Modern B2B buying decisions no longer rest with a single decision-maker. The rise of complex buying committees has reshaped what data needs to capture—and how it’s used. Recent research reveals several critical trends: ##### Expanding Committee Size and Complexity "Buying committees are expanding: The average number of stakeholders involved in B2B purchases has grown from 5.4 in 2015 to 9.6+ in 2024," according to research from [Lantern](https://www.withlantern.com). This expansion creates new challenges for tracking engagement, understanding influence patterns, and delivering relevant content to diverse stakeholders. ##### The Critical Role of the Champion Even within a committee, individual champions remain pivotal to successful B2B engagements. Marketing-Engineers defines the champion as "an individual who actively supports and advocates for a particular product, service, or solution being considered for purchase." Identifying and enabling these champions through targeted data and content represents a significant opportunity for more effective B2B marketing. ##### Multi-Threading as a Strategic Imperative With 20% of professionals changing roles each year, relying on a single point of contact is risky. Organizations need data systems that track multiple relationships within accounts, monitor stakeholder changes, and alert teams when key committee roles remain unengaged. ##### Three Distinct Buying Phases Require Tailored Metrics According to [Anteriad](https://anteriad.com/press/start-identifying-b2b-buying-groups-with-ai-powered-solutions), B2B buying unfolds in three distinct phases: - **Education**: Why change? - **Solution**: What are the options? - **Selection**: Who’s the best fit? Each phase requires different metrics to track engagement and inform strategy—a nuance many data systems fail to capture. #### Breaking Down Data Silos: Integration Strategies That Work Data silos represent perhaps the most persistent obstacle to actionable metrics. Recent research identifies several key strategies for breaking down these barriers: ##### 1\. Implement a Unified Data Fabric "The modern enterprise typically has data scattered across numerous systems," [notes](https://qatalog.com/blog/post/break-down-data-silos/) Qatalog. Unified data fabrics stitch these systems together—connecting CRMs, collaboration tools, and analytics platforms in one flow. ##### 2\. Establish Real-Time Data Flows Static, periodic reports are too slow for today’s marketing decisions. Modern teams rely on dashboards that offer a real-time view across departments—eliminating delays and misalignment. ##### 3\. Enhance Cross-Functional Collaboration Foster a data-sharing culture within the organization where teams view data as a shared asset rather than a proprietary resource. This cultural shift is essential for breaking down the organizational barriers that often reinforce technical silos. ##### 4\. Streamline Cross-Team Requests Traditional approaches to data access—where teams submit formal requests to data specialists and wait for reports—create unnecessary friction and delays. Advanced organizations implement self-service analytics tools with natural language interfaces that allow non-technical users to query complex data systems without specialized expertise. ##### 5\. Implement AI-Powered Analytics Artificial intelligence represents a transformative force in converting raw data to actionable metrics. As [Factors.ai](https://factors.ai) notes, "Modern business intelligence (BI) solutions equipped with AI capabilities are readily accessible to marketing teams," allowing organizations to identify patterns and insights across disparate data sources, helping to uncover hidden value in previously siloed information without requiring deep technical expertise. #### Future-Proofing Your Data Strategy: Emerging Trends Looking ahead, three trends will shape how businesses convert data into actionable insight: ##### Automated Data Quality Management As data volumes grow and quality issues multiply, manual cleansing approaches become unsustainable. Forward-thinking organizations implement automated quality management systems that continuously monitor, cleanse, and validate data across sources. ##### AI-Powered Buying Committee Intelligence Advanced organizations are implementing AI systems that can analyze patterns of engagement across technology stacks, identify job changes in real time, and automatically monitor organizational changes to provide comprehensive intelligence about buying committees. ##### Real-Time Data Governance As data volumes grow and privacy regulations tighten, manual governance approaches become unsustainable. Forward-thinking organizations implement automated governance frameworks that ensure compliance and quality while enabling appropriate access across teams. #### From Metrics to Meaningful Action The journey from data collection to actionable metrics represents a fundamental challenge for modern organizations—but those that master this transformation gain substantial competitive advantages. As data complexity grows and buying processes evolve, the advantage will go to organizations that focus on: - Quality over quantity - Actionable insights over interesting observations - Targeted metrics that drive business outcomes The ultimate message remains consistent: "*The value isn't in having data; it's in applying it*." By implementing the strategies outlined in this research—defining clear objectives, ensuring data quality, breaking down silos, understanding buying committees, and connecting insights to actions—organizations can turn a growing challenge into a lasting competitive edge. ### How to Turn Scattered Data into Clear Marketing Insights Ever feel like your data is playing hide-and-seek—scattered across a dozen platforms while potential deals slip through the cracks? That chaos doesn’t just create extra work—it makes it nearly impossible to deliver the cohesive, high-impact experiences today’s buyers expect. Marketing teams are under relentless pressure to craft consistent, insight-driven experiences that nudge prospects from curious onlookers to loyal customers. Yet even with cutting-edge tools in hand, progress often stalls when vital information remains locked away in isolated systems. Those stubborn data silos fracture collaboration, splinter the buyer’s journey, and derail revenue goals, turning what should be a competitive advantage into a source of daily frustration. #### The Hidden Costs of Disconnected Data For marketing organizations, data silos are more than a technical nuisance—they represent a direct threat to business performance. ##### Missed Opportunities When data sits locked in silos, marketers lose sight of the customer journey as a whole. This makes it difficult to identify high-potential segments, personalize outreach, or pinpoint the true impact of campaigns. Opportunities to engage buyers at critical moments are often missed, resulting in lower conversion rates and lost revenue. ##### Inconsistent Customer Experiences Siloed data leads to disjointed messaging and redundant touchpoints. Customers may receive conflicting or duplicate communications from different teams, or worse, feel invisible to the brand. This inconsistency erodes trust and diminishes the impact of marketing efforts. ##### Inefficiencies and Increased Costs Teams waste valuable time manually stitching together disconnected data, duplicating work, and chasing down errors. These inefficiencies drive up costs and pull resources away from high-impact strategic work. #### Unified Data Removes Gaps for Marketers Solving this challenge requires unifying fragmented data or investing in a platform that offers a complete, current view of each customer’s journey. When marketing organizations break down silos, several key benefits emerge. ##### Eliminate Attribution Gaps Unified data enables marketers to track the entire customer journey, from first touch to closed deal. This clarity allows for more accurate attribution, helping teams understand which tactics drive results and optimize spend accordingly. ##### Reveal Buying Groups and Stakeholders By connecting data across channels and touchpoints, marketers can identify all stakeholders involved in a buying decision-not just the primary contact. This insight supports more targeted, effective engagement strategies. ##### Ensure Consistency Across Programs A single source of truth ensures that every program, campaign, and channel is aligned. Messaging is consistent, timing is coordinated, and the customer experience is seamless. #### Real Benefits for Marketing Teams A unified data platform empowers marketing organizations with the following measurable, game-changing advantages. ##### Single Source of Truth With all relevant data in one place, teams can collaborate more effectively and make faster, more informed decisions. No more second-guessing which report is accurate or chasing down missing information. ##### Enhanced Customer Experience Marketers can deliver highly personalized, relevant interactions at every stage of the funnel. Customers feel understood and valued, resulting in increased engagement and loyalty. ##### Higher Operational Efficiency Automation and streamlined workflows reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and free up time for creative and strategic work. Campaigns launch faster, and teams can pivot quickly in response to market changes. ##### Data-Driven Insights for Continuous Improvement Integrated analytics provide a holistic view of performance, revealing what’s working and where there’s room to improve. Marketers can iterate rapidly, testing new ideas and scaling successful tactics with confidence. #### Getting Started: Steps for Implementation Transitioning to a unified data environment doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Marketing organizations can take a structured approach. 1. **Audit Current Systems and Data Flows** Map out all existing data sources, platforms, and integrations. Identify gaps, redundancies, and areas where data is siloed. 1. **Select the Right AI-Powered Platform** Choose a solution that can seamlessly integrate with your broader sales and support technologies, scale with your needs, and provide robust analytics and automation capabilities. 1. **Align Teams Around Shared KPIs** Establish common goals and metrics that encourage collaboration within marketing and other stakeholders. Ensure everyone understands how unified data will drive success. 1. **Monitor, Measure, and Iterate** Regularly assess data quality, platform performance, and business impact. Use insights to refine processes and maximize the value of your unified data environment. #### Tackling Common Roadblocks Despite the clear benefits, breaking down data silos remains a significant challenge. ##### Data Quality Issues Inconsistent or incomplete data can undermine even the best integration efforts. Prioritize data hygiene and establish clear governance practices. ##### Budget and Stakeholder Buy-In Demonstrate the ROI of unified data by highlighting efficiency gains, improved campaign performance, and enhanced customer experiences. Secure executive support early in the process. #### Bring Your Marketing Data Together With Leed When data silos are removed, marketing organizations can make smarter decisions, reduce inefficiencies, and deliver a more cohesive customer experience—driving stronger outcomes and consistent growth. Leed’s AI-powered platform is purpose-built to solve this exact problem, uniting marketing data on one platform so your teams can work together seamlessly and keep every customer journey on track. ### 6 Top Reasons to Switch to Leed's Generative CMS Managing content effectively is a must these days for any business aiming to stay competitive and deliver meaningful customer experiences. However, traditional content management systems often fall short, lacking the flexibility and intelligence needed to optimize workflows, personalize user interactions, and provide actionable insights. Enter Leed's Generative CMS—a fresh approach that combines advanced analytics, AI-driven personalization, and seamless integration into one powerful platform. Here are six compelling reasons to make the switch. ##### 1\. Simplified Workflows for Greater Efficiency Leed's Generative CMS is designed to remove inefficiencies in the content creation and management process. Instead of juggling multiple tools or platforms, Leed provides an all-in-one solution where teams can collaborate, manage assets, and analyze performance without leaving the system. Features like automated tagging, real-time feedback loops, and centralized task management save time and reduce errors. By streamlining workflows, your team can focus more on strategy and creativity rather than administrative tasks. For example, marketing teams can easily coordinate campaigns while accessing shared assets and tracking performance metrics directly within the platform. This integration eliminates the need for constant back-and-forth between different applications. ##### 2\. AI-Driven Personalization That Engages Users One of the standout features of Leed's Generative CMS is its ability to deliver hyper-personalized experiences using AI. The system analyzes user behavior in real time to offer tailored content recommendations, adjust calls-to-action (CTAs), and dynamically adapt messaging based on individual preferences or actions. This level of personalization ensures that visitors are presented with content that resonates with their needs, increasing engagement and improving conversion rates. Unlike traditional CMS platforms that rely on static templates or manual adjustments, Leed’s AI continuously learns from user interactions to refine its recommendations. Whether it’s guiding a potential customer through the buying journey or delivering relevant resources to existing clients, this feature helps businesses build stronger connections with their audience. ##### 3\. Built-In Analytics for Deeper Insights Leed's Generative CMS is architected to go beyond basic metrics by providing detailed analytics that track user behavior at a granular level. From video interaction metrics (e.g., where users pause or stop watching) to lead validation tracking and button click analysis, the platform provides actionable insights that help you understand how users interact with your site. These built-in analytics eliminate the need for third-party tools like Google Analytics while offering more specific data tailored to your goals. For instance, marketers can evaluate which pieces of content drive the most engagement or identify bottlenecks in user journeys—all from within the CMS.
In addition, Leed’s CMS provides analytics on both personas and buying groups. This enhances your ability to understand what motivates customers and drives their purchasing habits, tailor marketing messages, and improve decision making. ##### 4\. Persistent Tracking for Accurate Attribution Tracking campaign performance accurately is crucial for understanding what drives conversions and engagement. One common limitation with Google Analytics is that UTM codes—used to track traffic sources—typically disappear after the initial landing page. This means that as users navigate through your site, valuable attribution data is often lost, making it difficult to track their entire journey. Designed to solve this problem, Leed ensures that tracking information persists throughout a user's session. This allows marketers to follow users across multiple pages, providing a complete picture of their journey and interactions without requiring additional configuration or third-party tools. Leed maintains tracking parameters across all pages, ensuring accurate attribution throughout a session and providing you with clearer insights into which campaigns drive conversions across multiple touchpoints. This persistent tracking allows for enhanced attribution accuracy, helping marketers make more informed decisions based on complete data. Unlike Google Analytics, Leed handles this automatically, simplifying implementation by eliminating the need for manual intervention or additional tools. ##### 5\. Privacy-First Approach with First-Party Data As data privacy regulations become stricter and third-party cookies disappear, businesses must prioritize compliance without sacrificing insights. Leed's Generative CMS is built around first-party data collection, ensuring that you retain control over your data while adhering to privacy laws like GDPR or CCPA. Unlike platforms that rely heavily on third-party cookies or external tracking services, Leed enables businesses to gather and use data directly from their own digital properties. This approach not only protects user privacy but also ensures that data is immediately accessible for analysis and decision-making. By avoiding reliance on third-party services, companies can reduce risks associated with data breaches or compliance violations. ##### 6\. Flexible Templating and Scalable Deployment Leed’s Generative CMS offers precise templating tools that give developers full control over design elements while maintaining consistency across pages and campaigns. This flexibility ensures that your brand identity remains intact no matter how much your site evolves. Additionally, deployment features are optimized for scalability, making it easy to expand your site as your business grows or new initiatives arise. For example, launching a new product line or regional campaign can be done quickly without disrupting existing workflows or requiring extensive reconfiguration. This scalability is particularly valuable for businesses operating in dynamic industries where agility is key. Switching to Leed's Generative CMS isn’t just about adopting a shiny new platform—it’s about addressing common pain points in content management while unlocking opportunities for growth through advanced analytics and AI-driven personalization, all on one centralized platform. With persistent tracking capabilities that solve attribution challenges, privacy-first data collection practices, streamlined workflows, and scalable solutions, Leed provides a modern platform tailored to meet the needs of forward-thinking businesses. If you're looking for a smarter way to manage content and connect with your audience effectively, Leed's Generative CMS offers everything you need—and more—to achieve those goals. ### Seeing the Forest Through the Trees: Understanding 360° Content Marketing for Business Success Creating a comprehensive content strategy is crucial for B2B SaaS businesses aiming to educate and convert visitors into qualified leads while keeping their overhead for high-cost, low-impact paid advertising to a minimum. #### What Is a 360° Content Strategy? A 360° content strategy means creating and distributing content that resonates with every stakeholder involved in the buying decision, no matter their role or stage in the process. This strategy ensures that your message connects with key decision-makers, influencers, and end users, helping them navigate the journey from awareness to consideration, decision, and beyond. #### Why Is a 360° Content Strategy Important for B2B SaaS Businesses? In B2B SaaS, your audience isn’t just a single decision-maker—it's a buying committee. The stakes are higher, the investments are larger, and the onboarding process is more complex than simply convincing someone to download an app. A 360° strategy is critical for delivering the right content to each persona at the right moment, ensuring alignment with business objectives and driving success. Here's why it's especially important: 1. **Enhanced Customer Engagement**: Valuable content that addresses specific pain points builds trust and authority, helping you connect deeply with potential customers in a competitive landscape. 2. **Lead Generation**: A well-structured content strategy nurtures leads at every stage, offering them the information they need to move forward, ultimately improving conversion rates. 3. **Alignment with Business Objectives**: By aligning content with business goals, your strategy ensures that marketing efforts directly contribute to customer acquisition and revenue growth. #### Key Challenges in Implementing a 360° Content Strategy Implementing a 360° content strategy comes with its own set of challenges. Recognizing and addressing these roadblocks is essential for success: ##### Lack of Access to Systems for Automation Without the right tools to automate workflows across channels, content marketing efforts can become fragmented and inefficient, leading to missed opportunities and inconsistent messaging across channels. ##### Siloed Databases Disconnected systems make it difficult to get a complete view of customer interactions and preferences, hindering the creation of targeted content that speaks to diverse audience segments. ##### Insufficient Gap Analyses Many businesses struggle to align their content with audience needs due to a lack of effective gap analysis tools. Identifying gaps in content that address crucial customer questions at different stages of their journey is vital to ensuring you speak to all relevant personas. ##### Maintaining Consistency Across Teams and Channels Ensuring a unified brand voice across all teams and channels can be challenging. Without proper coordination, different departments may deliver conflicting messages, diluting your brand’s impact and confusing potential customers. #### Keys to Achieving a 360° Content Strategy To overcome these challenges and implement a successful 360° content strategy, focus on the following key areas: ##### Centralizing Workflows Invest in tools that centralize workflows around a singular database. This ensures all teams have access to the same information, reducing the risk of data silos and enabling consistent messaging across all channels. Centralized workflows also streamline content management, ensuring that the brand voice remains uniform across all touchpoints. ##### Campaign Planning Interfaces Use platforms that support campaign planning and gap analysis. These tools help you visualize content gaps and plan campaigns that cater to the needs of different personas throughout the buyer’s journey. That mindset is quietly killing deals. At Leed, we work with high-performing marketing and sales teams who understand this shift and are reimagining their go-to-market strategies around buying groups, not just leads. In this post, we explore why buying group intelligence is emerging as a key driver of B2B growth, and how your marketing and revenue teams can adapt to stay competitive and close deals more effectively. #### What Are B2B Buying Groups, and Why Do They Matter? A B2B buying group is a collection of internal stakeholders involved in a purchase decision. These typically include executive sponsors, procurement officers, end users, IT, finance, and more. In fact, Forrester found that, on average, [13 individuals within an organization](https://www.forrester.com/press-newsroom/forrester-the-state-of-business-buying-2024) are involved in B2B buying decisions, with 89% of purchases involving two or more departments. Understanding these dynamics is crucial. If you’re still crafting campaigns or sales plays for a single persona, you’re missing the full picture, and likely losing deals to competitors who are tailoring experiences to the entire decision-making group. ##### Key buying group challenges marketers face: - Different stakeholders consume different content - Internal consensus is hard to achieve - Intent signals are fragmented across channels - Traditional lead scoring misses group behavior At Leed, we help marketing and sales teams map, monitor, and mobilize buying group behavior with AI-powered insights and engagement triggers across the entire decision journey. #### The B2B Funnel Has Changed — Here’s What It Looks Like Now From awareness to consideration to decision, the linear funnel has been replaced by a looping, non-linear buying path. Stakeholders enter and exit the process at different times. Some want business cases; others want product comparisons or integration answers. Modern buyers are: - **Self-guided**: [77% of B2B buyers](https://www.gartner.com/en/sales/insights/buyer-enablement) describe their last purchase as very complex or difficult. - **Cross-functional**: Decisions impact multiple teams and departments. - **Risk-averse**: They’re looking for trust signals and peer validation. That means your go-to-market efforts need to be multi-threaded, personalized by role, and built to support internal alignment, not just lead conversion. - **Executive Sponsors** need to see strategic value and business impact. Equip them with point-of-view articles, ROI calculators, and compelling case studies that show long-term results. - **IT Leaders** are focused on technical feasibility and integration. Share detailed technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and security, scalability, and compatibility information. - **Finance Stakeholders** evaluate cost, budgeting, and risk. Provide them with pricing guides, breakdowns of total cost of ownership, and comparisons that justify investment. - **End Users** want to know how the product fits into their daily workflow. Demos, customer testimonials, and walkthroughs help show usability and relevance. - **Procurement Teams** need clear compliance, risk, and vendor approval data. To support their process, offer legal documentation, SLA examples, and vendor comparison templates. At Leed, our AI models identify which stakeholders are engaging with your content, flag gaps in the buying group journey, and recommend asset delivery tailored to role and stage. #### Sales Enablement: From Closing Deals to Building Consensus The job of marketing and sales is no longer about convincing a single buyer; it’s about enabling internal consensus across multiple decision-makers. Buying group-aligned sales enablement includes: - Customized messaging by stakeholder role - Multi-threaded outreach sequences - Buying group heatmaps and engagement trends - Objection handling frameworks for group dynamics Leed's Generative CMS tracks engagement at the group level, not just the lead level. That means sellers know *who* is active, *what* they care about, and *when* to act, all in real time. #### How Buying Group Insights Help You Win More Complex Deals B2B deals are more complex than ever, but that doesn’t mean they’re unpredictable. With the right insights, you can anticipate buying behavior, tailor engagement across roles, and accelerate deals. Leed helps B2B teams: - Unify fragmented buying signals into a single group view - Predict group behavior with AI-driven analytics - Trigger personalized campaigns based on real-time role activity - Prioritize the accounts most likely to convert, and align your content accordingly #### The Future of B2B Growth Is Group-Centric The most successful B2B organizations today aren’t just optimizing for lead gen; they’re optimizing for group activation. That means going beyond the individual to understand the full web of influence behind every deal. If you’re serious about increasing deal velocity, improving win rates, and reducing pipeline friction, you need to ask yourself whether you are influencing a lead or enabling a buying group. ### Maximizing Your Pillar Content Assets: Are You Unlocking All the Value? Let's dive straight into the most recent game-changing updates in the June release of our Generative CMS. #### Key Highlights ##### Dynamic Calls to Action (CTAs) ![A screenshot of a Dynamics CRM page displaying a request for a demo.](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/c6adb5e7-3ee0-4f76-7273-b440074b6400/original) We’ve added built-in dynamic CTAs to help you drive deeper engagement and reduce the tedious task of managing countless individual CTAs across your site. With this feature, you can centrally manage and intelligently insert CTAs across your site, from blog posts to landing pages and beyond, eliminating page-by-page updates. Whether you need to update and outdated CTA on thousands of pages published over years, or have a short term priority like driving registrations of an upcoming webinar, with dynamic CTAs it's as simple as editing the text in one central location and hitting "Publish." The new CTAs are instantly propagated throughout your site, making it easy to ensure all CTAs are timely and relevant to compel visitors to take action. ##### Auto-Linking & Statistics ![A screenshot of a webpage displaying a list of options, including "Automatic Hyperlinking" and "Optimization." Leed's new Auto-Linking feature is your ultimate ally in maintaining a consistently optimized website. At the heart of this feature is a centrally-controlled list of terms and phrases. You decide which keywords should be hyperlinked to your most relevant, high-performing content. No more manual linking or worrying about broken links during page renames or site reorganizations. But what happens when you create an even better page? Simply update the Auto-Linking setting and hit publish. In an instant, every link across your entire site will be updated to point to the new, improved content. The best part is that the Auto-Linking feature is referenced by page IDs rather than name or URLs. This means your links will remain intact and functional even if you rename pages or restructure your site—no more broken links or lost SEO juice! ##### Contact List Uploads & Email Marketing v1.0 ![A screenshot of an email marketing tool displaying a list of contacts, including names, email addresses, and company names.](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/39282962-09e6-4a8a-d2ab-dbcf9787be00/original) Our June release also features contact lists and email marketing. We've streamlined the process of importing purchased contact lists, making it a breeze to expand your reach without the headaches of downloading a template file or wrestling with Excel spreadsheets. Just import the list, and our Generative CMS will identify and correctly import the essential data. Whether your contacts are imported or gathered through forms on your site, you can now create targeted groups and send templated HTML emails that truly resonate with your audience. Because you're using first-party data, all addresses and links come from your domain. This significantly improves email deliverability, ensuring your messages land in real inboxes instead of being filtered as spam or relegated to the promotions tab. *Look forward to even more advanced email analytics and campaign-building functions in the near future. Imagine being able to create follow-up emails that automatically adapt based on whether or not the recipient engaged with the email!* ##### Smart Forms & Gated Assets ![A form is displayed on a computer screen, asking for information such as name, phone number, and country of origin. Software engineers, who [represent 72% of ad-blocker users](https://www.theregister.com/2024/03/27/america_ad_blocker/), constitute a core demographic for B2B technical documentation, meaning companies targeting this audience may be missing over two-thirds of their analytics data. This data gap creates a cascade of problems that undermines decision-making across all business functions, from product development to customer success. The implications go far beyond inaccurate visitor counts; when documentation teams can’t see how users interact with onboarding guides, feature explanations, or help resources, organizations develop critical blind spots that threaten their competitiveness and agility. #### How Ad-Blockers Disrupt Analytics Ad-blocking technology disrupts business analytics through several key mechanisms that compound the data completeness problem: 1. **Script Blocking and Tracking Prevention**
Ad-blockers don't just block advertisements—they actively prevent analytics tracking scripts from functioning. Popular ad-blockers like uBlock Origin, AdBlock Plus, and Ghostery as well as privacy-oriented browsers like Brave often include filters that block Google Analytics, by default, as well as most other third-party data collection scripts. As a result, even sites free of advertising suffer serious loss of behavior data, creating unmeasured gaps in user journeys. 2. **Third-Party Cookie Restrictions**
Modern [privacy-focused browsers](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enhanced-tracking-protection-firefox-desktop) have implemented Enhanced Tracking Protection that blocks cross-site tracking cookies by default. Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection blocks social media trackers, cross-site tracking cookies, fingerprinters, cryptominers, and tracking content. These protections prevent businesses from studying user activity across sessions and touchpoints, making it harder to understand long-term behavior or attribution. 3. **Attribution Loss**
One of the most significant impacts is the [loss of attribution data](https://www.optimizesmart.com/what-is-attribution-problem-in-online-marketing/). Attribution problems occur when you cannot determine the primary source of conversion or the conversion paths followed by website users. This is particularly problematic for user documentation systems where understanding how users discover and navigate through help content is crucial for optimizing content, supporting onboarding, or prioritizing features. #### Real-World Business Questions That Become Impossible to Answer Without access to comprehensive analytics, product teams cannot accurately assess which features require better documentation or user experience improvements. For B2B product managers, this data gap means making decisions about feature prioritization and documentation investment without understanding the full user journey. ##### Documentation Effectiveness - "Are users finding solutions in our documentation, or are they still contacting support?" - "Which documentation resources see the most use, indicating areas of most interest?" - "How does documentation engagement correlate with feature adoption rates?" ##### Customer Success and Support - "What percentage of support tickets could be prevented with better documentation?" - "Which topics generate the most support requests despite having comprehensive documentation?" - "How effective is our documentation at reducing time-to-resolution for common issues?" ##### Customer Journey Analysis - "At what point in the customer lifecycle do users most frequently access documentation?" - "How does documentation usage predict customer churn or expansion?" - "Which customer segments rely most heavily on self-service documentation?" ##### Marketing Content Performance - "Which documentation pages are most effective at driving product adoption?" - "How do users discover our documentation—through search, in-app links, or direct navigation?" - "What content gaps exist that could be filled to improve user experience?" ##### Attribution and ROI - "How does documentation consumption correlate with customer lifetime value?" - "Which marketing channels drive the most engaged documentation users?" - "What is the ROI of our documentation investment in terms of reduced support costs?" ##### Feature Usage Insights - "Which API endpoints or features are most frequently researched before implementation?" - "How long do users typically spend on documentation before successfully implementing a feature?" - "What patterns exist in how users navigate through technical documentation?" #### The Cascade Effect: How Incomplete Data Compounds Business Problems ##### 1\. Misallocated Resources Without complete user behavior data, documentation teams cannot prioritize improvements effectively. A company might invest heavily in updating documentation for features that appear unpopular based on [incomplete analytics](https://www.i-com.org/publications/data-storytelling/the-challenges-of-working-with-incomplete-data-sets), when in reality, these features are widely used by the blocked user segment. Development teams may make incorrect assumptions about which features require better user experience improvements. If documentation for a complex feature shows low engagement due to missing data, engineers might incorrectly conclude that the feature is rarely used, leading to reduced investment in usability improvements. ##### 2\. Strategic Misalignment Product teams rely on documentation analytics to understand user needs and pain points. Missing data from ad-blocker users can lead to strategic decisions that don't reflect the actual user base, potentially resulting in features that don't [address real user problems](https://productschool.com/blog/analytics/using-analytics-to-make-product-decisions). Customer success teams use documentation engagement data to identify at-risk accounts and expansion opportunities. Incomplete data means missing early warning signs of customer frustration or opportunities for upselling. ##### 3\. Revenue Impact Organizations cannot accurately calculate the ROI of their documentation investment. If support ticket deflection rates appear lower [due to incomplete tracking](https://gitbook.com/docs/guides/best-practices/documentation-analytics), companies may underinvest in documentation improvements that could significantly reduce support costs. Poor [data quality costs organizations](https://www.gartner.com/smarterwithgartner/how-to-improve-your-data-quality) an average of $12.9 million annually. For user documentation systems, this manifests as incorrect assessments of how documentation impacts customer retention and expansion revenue. #### Industry-Specific Impacts B2B SaaS companies face unique challenges because their primary user base—software engineers and technical professionals—has the highest ad-blocker adoption rates. With 72% of software engineers using ad-blockers, a B2B technical product company analyzing their user documentation might be missing over two-thirds of their actual user data. This creates several critical blind spots: ##### Onboarding Optimization - Cannot accurately measure how documentation affects user activation rates - Unable to identify where users get stuck in the onboarding process - Difficulty measuring the effectiveness of progressive disclosure in documentation ##### Feature Adoption Analysis - Cannot correlate documentation views with feature usage - Unable to identify which explanations are most effective at driving adoption - Difficulty understanding the relationship between documentation quality and user success For enterprise software companies, the impact is particularly severe because: - Technical [decision-makers are more likely to use ad-blockers](https://umamimarketing.com/blog/ad-blockers-what-they-are-and-how-they-effect-your-analytics/), making it impossible to track how they research and evaluate features - Cannot understand how users gather information and make purchasing decisions - Unable to optimize documentation for different stakeholder types ##### Implementation Success - Cannot measure how documentation quality affects implementation timelines - Unable to identify common implementation bottlenecks - Difficulty correlating documentation engagement with customer success metrics #### The Attribution Problem: A Deeper Dive ##### What Is Attribution Loss? Attribution loss occurs when businesses cannot determine the source of user actions or conversions. In the context of user documentation, this means: - Cannot track how users discover documentation pages - Unable to measure the effectiveness of in-app help links - Difficulty understanding multi-session user journeys - Inability to correlate documentation usage with business outcomes ##### Real-World Attribution Scenarios **The Invisible Integration Journey:** A software company notices that their API integration documentation has low traffic according to analytics, but they receive consistent support requests about API implementation. In reality, the majority of developers researching the API are using ad-blockers, making their documentation appear less valuable than it actually is. **The Onboarding Paradox:** A B2B SaaS company sees that their onboarding documentation has a high bounce rate, leading them to conclude that the content is ineffective. However, the missing data from ad-blocker users shows that technical users actually spend significant time on these pages and successfully complete onboarding at higher rates. **The Feature Discovery Gap:** A product team believes that a new feature isn't being adopted because the documentation page has low traffic. In reality, the feature is being widely used by technical users who accessed the documentation with ad-blockers enabled, creating a false impression of low interest. #### Beyond Basic Metrics: Advanced Analytics Impacts Without complete data, businesses cannot accurately map user journeys through their documentation. This means missing critical insights about how users discover, consume, and act on information. Documentation's primary job is to help people complete tasks. When ad-blockers prevent accurate measurement of task completion rates, businesses cannot optimize their content for user success. Understanding different user personas and their [documentation needs](https://amplitude.com/guides/user-analysis) requires complete behavioral data. Missing data from ad-blocker users means businesses cannot accurately segment their audience or create targeted content strategies. #### A/B Testing and Optimization A/B tests need enough participants to reach statistical significance. When ad-blockers reduce the effective sample size, businesses may make optimization decisions based on incomplete or biased data. If ad-blocker users behave differently from non-ad-blocker users, A/B test results may not be representative of the entire user base, leading to suboptimal design decisions. #### The Cost of Incomplete Data: Financial Impact The biggest problem with incomplete data is that it stymies the feedback loop that can help leaders improve their businesses. Documentation teams may focus on the wrong priorities, support teams may not understand the true sources of user confusion, and product teams may make decisions based on incomplete user behavior data. Data-driven [decisions are especially vulnerable](https://thisisimportant.net/posts/decide-with-the-data-how-missing-data-biases-data-driven-decisions/) to the effects of missing data. When businesses cannot trust their analytics, they may delay important decisions or rely on less reliable data sources. ##### Direct Costs - Poor data quality costs organizations an average of [$15 million per year](https://enricher.io/blog/the-cost-of-incomplete-data) in losses - Wasted marketing spend on ineffective channels - Overinvestment in low-impact documentation improvements - Underinvestment in high-impact user experience enhancements ##### Opportunity Costs - For a company with annual revenues of $100 million, data quality issues could potentially cost $18 million per year - Missed opportunities to improve customer success metrics - Delayed identification of user experience problems - Reduced competitive advantage due to slower optimization cycles #### Mitigation Strategies Server-side tracking allows analytics data to bypass ad-blockers by shifting tracking mechanisms from the user's browser to the server. This approach can help recover a portion of lost data while maintaining user privacy, but it lacks event-level information and is far from complete. The most powerful option is to utilize first-party data collection. First-party data is collected directly from customer interactions and is less likely to be blocked by ad-blockers. This includes: - Direct to your web-domain, not to a third-party event collection - User account data - Support ticket analysis to identify documentation gaps - Feature usage data from the application itself - Direct feedback surveys When your web analytics are not trustworthy, be sure to augment that information with: - Regular user interviews and surveys - Customer success metrics correlation with documentation usage - User feedback - Sales team insights #### Organizational Changes Teams need training on using analytics tools effectively and understanding the limitations of their data. This includes: - Understanding the impact of ad-blockers on data collection - Recognizing when data may be incomplete or biased - Developing skills in qualitative data analysis - Creating processes for validating quantitative insights Effective cross-functional collaboration to aid documentation analytics should be integrated with other business functions: - Regular meetings between documentation, support, and product teams - Shared dashboards that combine multiple data sources - Collaborative analysis of user behavior patterns - Joint planning based on combined insights #### Building a Complete Data Strategy When acknowledging the limitations we can move toward a solution. The first step in addressing the ad-blocker impact is acknowledging that ***traditional*** web analytics provide an incomplete picture. Organizations must: - Document the estimated percentage of users who may be using ad-blockers - Adjust expectations for web analytics data accordingly - Develop supplementary data collection methods - Create processes for validating analytics insights through other channels Second, organizations must implement better data collection leveraging a variety of approaches: - First-party data collection through user accounts - In-app analytics that don't rely on third-party scripts - Server-side tracking for critical user actions - Regular user surveys and feedback collection - Use sales team feedback to understand user needs - Monitor feature usage data from the application itself Finally, organizations must shift from purely data-driven decisions to data-informed decision making: - Use available data to identify trends and patterns - Validate insights through user research and feedback - Consider the limitations of incomplete data when making decisions - Implement rapid experimentation to test hypotheses - Develop attribution models that work with first-party data #### Conclusion The impact of ad-blockers on business analytics for user documentation systems represents a critical challenge that extends far beyond simple visitor count discrepancies. With 72% of software engineers using ad-blockers, companies serving technical audiences face a fundamental data completeness problem that undermines decision-making across all business functions. The cascading effects of incomplete data create a perfect storm of misallocated resources, strategic misalignment, and missed opportunities. When businesses cannot accurately measure how users interact with their documentation, they cannot optimize the user experience, allocate resources effectively, or make informed decisions about product development and customer success strategies. The real-world questions that become impossible to answer—from product managers trying to understand feature adoption to customer success teams attempting to predict churn—highlight the urgent need for comprehensive data strategies that account for the limitations of traditional web analytics. The solution is not to abandon analytics but to develop more sophisticated, privacy-respecting approaches that combine [multiple data sources](https://www.prodpad.com/blog/data-driven-product-management/) and methodologies. Organizations must invest in server-side tracking, first-party data collection, and qualitative research methods while building data literacy across their teams. As digital privacy gains momentum, the companies that succeed will be those able to extract useful insights from limited data without compromising user trust. The cost of ignoring this challenge—potentially $18 million annually for a $100 million company—far exceeds the investment required to build robust, comprehensive data strategies. The path forward requires acknowledging the limitations of current analytics approaches, implementing redundant data collection methods, and developing organizational capabilities for data-informed decision making. Failing to address the impact of ad-blockers will leave businesses flying blind at a time when data-driven decisions matter more than ever. ### Taming the Martech Beast: How to Avoid Building a Frankenstack Marketing technology often starts with the best of intentions: businesses build their stacks piece by piece to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and drive results. Over time, however, the stack grows—new tools are added, integrations multiply, and suddenly, what was once a well-organized system becomes something else entirely. Welcome to the Martech Monster, or as we like to call it—the *Frankenstack*. Much like Dr. Frankenstein and his infamous creation, marketing operations teams often find themselves unwittingly assembling their own monstrous stacks. The allure of specialized tools, each with its own promises of boosting performance, can lead to a stack that is too big, too expensive, and too complex. But unlike Dr. Frankenstein, we can avoid letting our creation spiral out of control. Let’s explore the warning signs that your martech stack is becoming a Frankenstack, and how you can tame it before it turns into a nightmare. ##### The Birth of the Frankenstack: How It Happens At first, it seems harmless. You need a bunch of tools for marketing, sales, customer service, content management, and operations. Then you need an email marketing tool to communicate effectively. A social media management platform? Of course! And why not add a data analytics tool, an SEO platform, and a dozen other specialized tools while you're at it? Each tool brings value in isolation, but soon you have a bloated stack with overlapping features, unused capabilities, and rising costs. The Frankenstack is born when marketing teams, like Frankenstein, continue stitching tools together without considering the long-term effects. The result? A creature that’s costly to maintain, hard to control, and inefficient in delivering value. ##### Warning Signs Your Stack Is Becoming a Monster So how do you know if your martech stack has morphed into a Frankenstack? Here are a few red flags: 🚩🚩🚩 1. **Duplicate Tools with Overlapping Features**: If your team is using multiple tools that essentially do the same thing, it’s a clear sign that your stack has grown too large. For example, having two email automation platforms with similar functionality is not only redundant, but also adds unnecessary complexity. 2. **Unutilized or Underutilized Platforms**: Often, businesses invest in shiny new tools that sit unused after the initial setup. If you're paying for platforms that don't integrate well with your workflows or that your team hasn’t fully adopted, they’re just dead weight in your stack. 3. **Integration Nightmares**: Does it feel like your tools are constantly failing to sync or work together? Frankenstein’s monster was patched together from incompatible parts, and if your marketing stack is suffering from the same problem, it may be time to reevaluate. 4. **Skyrocketing Costs**: As your stack grows, so do the associated costs. Subscription fees for multiple platforms, maintenance, and integration efforts all add up. If you’re not seeing a return on investment that justifies these costs, it’s time to cut back. 5. **Complicated Workflows**: If your team is spending more time navigating between platforms or managing technical issues than actually executing marketing campaigns, your stack is likely too complex. A streamlined stack should simplify workflows, not complicate them. ##### How to Tame the Frankenstack Now that you’ve spotted the signs of a Frankenstack, how can you bring it back under control? Here are a few strategies to help you optimize your marketing tech stack and avoid the Martech Monster: 1. **Consolidate Tools**: The first step in taming the beast is consolidation. Audit your current martech stack to identify tools with overlapping features and decide which ones to keep. You will find that one comprehensive platform such as Leed can replace several smaller, specialized tools, reducing both cost and complexity. 2. **Prioritize Integration**: Your tools should work together seamlessly. Look for platforms that integrate easily with your core systems, such as your CRM or marketing automation tool. When your tools can “speak” to each other, you’ll reduce the need for manual data transfers and avoid siloed information. 3. **Eliminate Unused Platforms**: Conduct a full audit of your stack to determine which tools are essential and which ones are underutilized. If a tool hasn’t been used in months or isn’t contributing to your marketing goals, it’s time to let it go. 4. **Standardize Processes**: Complex workflows are often a symptom of a bloated stack. Take time to simplify and standardize your processes, aligning them with a leaner set of tools that everyone can master. Focus on efficiency and ease of use, which will make onboarding new team members faster and execution smoother. 5. **Align Tools with Strategy**: Make sure each tool in your stack directly supports your marketing strategy. If it doesn’t, then why is it there? As marketing goals shift, your tech stack should evolve in sync with your needs, not bloat out of control. 6. **Plan for Scalability**: Your martech stack should grow in a way that supports your business goals, not in a haphazard manner. When adding new tools, focus on scalability—look for platforms that can grow with you, rather than requiring constant replacements or additions as you expand. ##### Avoiding the Monster’s Return The Martech Monster, or Frankenstack, doesn’t have to be your fate. Before you stitch together yet another tool, take a step back and ask: Is this really helping, or am I building my own Frankenstein? Look for a solution such as Leed’s Generative CMS. Instead of creating a monster, you’ll have a streamlined, efficient martech stack that works in harmony—just as it was intended. With Leed's Generative CMS, you can streamline your marketing operations by consolidating multiple tools into one powerful platform, reducing the need for a bloated tech stack and helping your team focus on what truly drives results. ### Why a Unified Marketing System Outperforms API-Integrated Solutions It's no secret that marketing teams consistently struggle with disjointed data silos. While APIs and integrations are often promoted as the ultimate solution, they bring their own set of challenges. Adopting a unified marketing system that centralizes your data and tools is a more effective way to overcome these challenges and drive better results. #### The API Phenomenon APIs have transformed the way systems communicate, offering benefits such as increased interoperability, improved efficiency, and better user experiences. Companies across various industries have successfully leveraged API-integrated solutions to streamline operations and enhance customer experiences. However, a disconnect exists between marketers’ true needs and their requests. As [one article](https://chiefmartec.com/2024/06/apis-are-very-important-to-martech-buyers-today-but-theyll-be-crucial-for-the-coming-wave-of-ai-agents/) notes, “87% of savvy martech and marketing ops buyers consider APIs important or very important for automating marketing across their stack.” This is reminiscent of the famous Henry Ford quote: "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." What marketers *need* is improved access to data that can drive automations and AI enhancements. What they're *asking* *for* is more or better APIs. Rather than asking how to better connect disparate systems, we should question why we rely on so many disjointed tools in the first place. #### The Pitfalls of API-Integrated Solutions Let's first walk through the shortcomings of trying to buy or build the fastest horse: 1. **Security Vulnerabilities**: APIs can be susceptible to breaches, potentially compromising sensitive data. 2. **Complexity Overload**: Implementing and maintaining API-driven infrastructures can be exceedingly complex and expensive 3. **Compatibility Hurdles**: API integrations can suffer from version mismatches between different software. 4. **Third-Party Dependence**: Reliance on external developers can introduce vulnerabilities outside the company's control. 5. **Governance Challenges**: Effective API management requires ongoing monitoring and contingency planning. 6. **Limited AI and Reusability:** Even with API-connected systems, significant limitations persist in analyzing, repurposing, and tailoring content for diverse needs and personas. 7. **Fragility**: Over time as different systems update or change their API's integrations can break, increasing risk and raising the cost of managing and maintaining the system. #### The Unified Marketing System Approach Now, let's explore the alternative. A unified marketing tool and database provides: 1. **Enhanced Security**: Fewer points of entry reduce vulnerability to attacks. 2. **Simplified Operations**: A unified tool streamlines the marketing tech stack by eliminating the need for multiple integrations. 3. **Consistency and Compatibility**: Uniform updates and fixes prevent compatibility issues. 4. **Complete Control**: A unified system reduces dependence on external developers and platforms. 5. **AI-Powered Content Reusability:** Full access to the entire dataset (including content itself) enables seamless reusability. Since #5 is such an important one, let’s dig into it more... #### Content Reusability and Personalization with AI The ability to easily repurpose and adapt high-performing content for different personas is a significant advantage of unified marketing tools. By leveraging first-party data, marketers can create more targeted and effective marketing campaigns. By having all customer data in one place, marketers can: - **Identify Top-Performing Content**: Easily track which content resonates the most with your audience. - **Segment Audiences with Precision**: Utilize first-party data to create detailed customer segments and personas. - **Personalize Content**: Adapt successful content to suit different personas, increasing relevance and engagement. - **Measure and Refine**: Monitor how adapted content performs across different segments, continuously refining your approach. This capability conserves time and resources while ensuring that your marketing efforts are data-driven and highly targeted. By harnessing first-party data, you can create more personalized experiences that resonate with your audience, leading to improved customer relationships and increased ROI. While APIs have undoubtedly transformed modern business operations, there are significant drawbacks that can't be ignored. Rather than settling for makeshift API solutions, embrace a more effective approach. Adopting a unified marketing system offers greater reliability, enhanced security, and improved ease of use. Moreover, it provides powerful capabilities for content reusability and personalization, leveraging valuable first-party data to create more effective marketing campaigns. ### Configuring Cloudflare to Redirect WWW to Apex Domain Congratulations! You are setup and using cloudflare for your DNS. Now is a good time to ensure that if people who are typing in your domain can actually get to your site. Some people are in the habit of typing www in front of the domain name even though the www is not actually being used. To make sure your users are reaching your site with an error, we need to setup a redirect. Fortunately, this is straight-forward and only takes a minute to setup. #### Step 1 Log into your cloudflare account. In the left navigation at the bottom you will see a bulk redirects menu item. Click that and you will be presented with a screen similar to this. ![bulk_redirects-step-1](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/779afb4c-67d8-4860-a562-4c40b5248100/original) This is what it will look like when we are done. For now, let's get startedy by clicking the **Create Bulk Redirect List** button. #### Step 2 We want to provide a useful name. I have chosen to call this **domain\_redirects**. ![bulk_redirects-step-2](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/0eff78ea-2f3c-4ec0-9099-839169059300/original) After entering the name, click the **Next** button. #### Step 3 You could now upload a list of redirects, but this is beyond the purpose of this article. Instead click the link to **maually add URL redirects**. ![bulk_redirects-step-3](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/17273bd0-a27f-4785-49f3-49b320fe4f00/original) #### Step 4 Enter the source URL. The format here is **www.yourdomain.com/** ... The slash is important because webserver rules see a **"/"** as a directory, so this rule will catch everything from the root of the site **"/"** . In the target, specify your website, **https://yourdomain.com**. The status of 301 is what we want. ![bulk_redirects-step-4](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/c518b547-ade4-416d-a521-1b8f0b44a300/original) Then expand the **edit parameters** option and ensure the following items are selected: - Preserve query string - Subpath matching - Preserve path suffix Then click **Next**. #### Step 5 Confirm your details are correct and click **Next**. ![bulk_redirects-step-5](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/3d1506ae-3069-48af-20c1-170bff50cf00/original) #### Step 6 Now we need to create a rule to which we will apply this list. Click the **Continue to Redirect Rules** button. ![bulk_redirects-step-6](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/45981f1b-6442-450f-3fe9-717dccdbb200/original) #### Step 7 We need to provide a name, and I recommend **www to apex** as the name as this makes it easy to remember the purpose of the rule. The **domain\_redirects** list we created will be selected as it is likely the only list you have. ![bulk_redirects-step-7](/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/CkSmQAGqpZ-mcWDDI6mu0w/c9472c90-74dc-4939-1883-ba2943954d00/original) Click the **Save and Deploy** button and that's it. We are done. You can now test that your redirect is properly configured. For more information you can always refer to the [cloudflare documentation for bulk redirects](https://developers.cloudflare.com/rules/url-forwarding/bulk-redirects/). ## Resources ### Cloudflare Partner Program #### Leverage the Power of Leed's Generative CMS Leed brings together your marketing workflows, website, and customer journey into a seamless, AI-accelerated experience. No asterisks. [Start free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up) [Request Demo](/resources/request-demo/) Pricing & plans #### How pricing actually works One rule runs the whole model: capture is free, acting is paid. You pay when you decide to email and nurture the contacts you've captured — never for seats, never for traffic. ##### What does Leed cost? Free is **$0 forever** — not a trial. From there: **Starter ~$250/mo**, **Growth ~$1,250/mo**, and **Enterprise** is custom. What moves you up a tier is how many contacts you nurture and how much of the growth engine you switch on — never the size of your team or your traffic. ##### What exactly is free versus paid? **Capturing and holding contacts is free** — up to 250 identified contacts on the free plan, with lead-capture forms, a custom domain, and aggregate analytics included. **Acting on those contacts is paid**: the free plan sends no marketing email, so the moment you want to email or nurture your leads at all, you move to a paid plan. You never pay to *collect* a lead, only to *work* it. ##### How does contact-based pricing work? The value metric is **identified contacts** and the **email / nurture volume** you send them. Plans step up on those two numbers: Free holds 250 contacts, Starter 1,000 contacts with 5k emails/mo, Growth 10,000 contacts with 50k emails/mo, Enterprise unlimited. You pick the plan that matches the audience you're actively nurturing — nothing else changes the price. ##### What happens when I hit 250 contacts on the free plan? Nothing breaks and no one gets locked out of your docs. You've simply reached the free tier's ceiling for **capturing and holding contacts** — free lets you collect up to 250, but not email or nurture them. To hold more than 250 **and** to start emailing and nurturing your leads at all, you upgrade to Starter. Your docs, unlimited users, and custom domain all keep working exactly as before. ##### Why anchor the paid price against a stack of tools? Because that's what teams actually replace with Leed. A docs host, a product-analytics tool, a marketing-automation platform, and a social scheduler run roughly **$5,000/mo** together — and still can't show you one reader's full journey. Growth costs less than that assembled stack **and** does the one thing it can't: close the loop on exactly what each reader consumed. More on the cost of that sprawl in [Taming the Martech Beast](/blog/taming-the-martech-beast-how-to-avoid-building-a-frankenstack/). ##### Is there a catch with the free plan? No catch. Free means unlimited users, unlimited pages, a custom domain, AI authoring, both MCP servers, and lead capture up to 250 contacts — permanently. We'd rather you build your whole docs presence on Leed for free and grow into the paid growth engine when your docs start generating pipeline. The free tier #### Genuinely free, not free-to-frustrate Everything you need to publish beautiful docs with your whole team ships on the free plan — the parts other tools gate behind a paywall. ##### Is Leed really free? How is that sustainable? Yes — the docs product is genuinely free and stays free. It's sustainable because Leed makes money on the **growth engine**: when your docs start capturing and nurturing leads at scale, you upgrade. Free docs are how we compete head-on with tools like Mintlify; the growth engine is how we earn. ##### What's included on the free plan? **Unlimited users, unlimited pages**, your own **custom domain**, real-time and AI-native authoring, **both MCP servers** (Operator and Docs), lead-capture forms, aggregate analytics, and capture of up to **250 identified contacts**. It's a complete docs platform, not a teaser. ##### Is the custom domain free too? Yes — on **every** plan, including free. Your docs live on your own domain from day one. We don't hold your brand hostage behind an upgrade. ##### How is the free plan different from Mintlify's or GitBook's free tier? Two ways. First, we never charge per seat, so your **whole team** can be in Leed for free. Second, even the free plan includes **lead capture** and both MCP servers — the beginning of a growth engine no docs competitor offers at any tier, let alone for free. ##### Will you make me upgrade to remove a badge or unlock basics? The essentials — hosting, custom domain, unlimited users and pages, AI authoring — are all free. Removing the Leed badge is a Starter perk, but nothing about your docs' function is held back on free. You upgrade for the growth engine, not to unbreak the basics. Users & seats #### We will never charge you per seat Per-seat pricing punishes you for putting your team where the work is. We do the opposite — on purpose. ##### Do you charge per user or per seat? **No — never.** Every plan, including free, has **unlimited users**. Add your whole engineering, product, marketing, and support team at no additional cost. Seats are not, and will not be, part of how Leed is priced. ##### Why don't you charge per seat when everyone else does? Because more of your team writing and maintaining docs in Leed is the **entire point**. Per-seat pricing quietly discourages exactly the behavior that makes docs good. We'd rather remove the friction and meter on the outcome — contacts you nurture — than tax collaboration. ##### Can I add contractors, contributors, or the whole company? Yes. Invite as many editors, reviewers, and contributors as you like on any plan. There is no seat count to manage, no per-head bill, and no upgrade prompt when your team grows. ##### Should I bring my sales team in, not just docs authors? Yes — it's one of the highest-value things you can do, and it costs nothing because users are free. Give your reps access and let them open any lead to see the **full view**: every doc, release note, and page that person — or their AI agent — actually read, how far they got, and what they kept coming back to. No traditional CRM can show that, because CRMs sit downstream of the content and never see the consumption itself. Your reps walk into every call already knowing what the prospect understands — and can read the whole [buying group](/blog/why-buying-groups-hold-the-key-to-your-revenue-strategy/), not just one contact. ##### If users are free, what actually determines my plan? The audience you nurture. Your plan tracks **identified contacts** and the **emails you send them** — the value Leed generates for you — and nothing about your internal headcount. The growth engine #### The part no docs tool offers The free docs are table stakes. The growth engine is the category of one — it turns documentation into a measurable pipeline channel. ##### What is the “growth engine”? It's the monetized layer that turns docs into demand: **native lead capture and nurturing**, a **closed per-reader consumption funnel**, **reader-level analytics**, **automated release notes** from your issue tracker, and **multi-channel and social distribution**. Publishing docs is the free half; the growth engine is what makes those docs generate pipeline. ##### What is the “closed per-reader funnel”? It's a complete, connected record of exactly what **each individual reader** — human or AI agent — consumed: which pages, how far they scrolled, what they searched, what an agent pulled. Most stacks show anonymous pageviews on one side and CRM contacts on the other, with a gap in between. Leed closes that gap into one continuous view per reader. ##### How is this different from Mintlify, GitBook, ReadMe, or Docusaurus? Those are documentation tools. None of them offer native lead capture, a closed per-reader funnel, or reader-level identity — at **any** price tier. You'd bolt on a separate analytics tool, a marketing-automation platform, and a scheduler, and still not get the closed loop. Leed is the only platform where docs *are* the growth engine. ##### Can I run my whole website on Leed, not just my docs? Yes — and it's the whole idea. Host your **marketing and landing pages, blog, release notes, and documentation** on one platform and one domain, so a visitor's **presales** journey (the pages that generate and capture the lead) and their **post-sales** experience (the docs and support content they live in afterward) feed the **same** closed per-reader funnel. Most companies split that across a website builder and a separate docs tool and lose the thread between them — the moment lead-gen becomes support, the trail goes cold. On Leed it's one continuous view of the customer. In fact, the site you're reading right now, marketing pages and docs alike, runs entirely on Leed. ##### What does the closed loop let me see that a normal analytics tool can't? A single, complete picture of everything one customer has read and used — tied to their identity, from anonymous first visit through to nurtured contact. A product-analytics tool can't identify the reader; a marketing tool can't see the docs. Leed connects both ends, which is precisely what the assembled stack can't do. We make the full case in [why a unified system beats API-integrated tools](/blog/unified-marketing-tools-and-database-outperform-api-integrated-solutions/). ##### We already manage leads in HubSpot, Marketo, or Customer.io. Do we still need this? It's not replace-or-nothing — and either way Leed captures a signal those tools can't. Run the growth engine **standalone** and Leed's native lead capture and nurturing do what you'd otherwise pay a marketing-automation platform to do for your docs. Or **keep the tool you have** and let Leed feed it the one thing it's blind to: exactly what each lead read in your docs, how far they scrolled, and what their AI agent pulled. HubSpot can tell you an email was opened — it has no idea that account read your pricing and rate-limit pages twice last night. Leed sees that, and on Enterprise it syncs those contacts and their consumption into the CRM you already run. ##### What are auto release notes? Leed generates polished release notes straight from your **Jira, GitHub, or other issue-tracking system**, publishes them, and — on paid plans — turns them into email to your nurtured contacts and posts to your social channels. Your changelog becomes a recurring growth channel instead of a manual chore. ##### Do I have to use the growth engine? No. Plenty of teams run beautiful docs entirely on the free plan and never touch it. The growth engine is there for when you want your documentation to actively generate and nurture pipeline — switch it on when you're ready. MCP & AI agents #### Two free MCP servers, built in Author docs with your own AI, serve them to any agent, and see what those agents actually did — a category-first move, included free on every plan. ##### What are the two MCP servers? **Operator MCP** and **Docs MCP**. Operator MCP plugs your own Claude (or other MCP client) in to **author and manage** your docs. Docs MCP **serves** your docs to AI agents, **captures leads** through them, and **logs every agent tool call** as product-feedback analytics. Both are included free. ##### Are the MCP servers free? Yes — both, on every plan including free. They're core to how Leed works, not an add-on. AI is how a growing share of your docs get read and written, so we're not going to paywall the connection. ##### Do I have to set up, host, or maintain the MCP servers? No — there's **nothing to set up**. Both servers are **live automatically** the moment you have docs in Leed: no SDK to wire up, no server to stand up and host, nothing to keep in sync, no config to maintain. Leed runs and scales them for you. You simply point your AI client at Operator MCP, or share the Docs MCP endpoint — the hard part, hosting a live MCP server that always mirrors your latest docs, is already done and included free. ##### What's the difference between Operator MCP and Docs MCP? Direction. **Operator MCP is inbound to your docs** — you point your own AI at Leed to write, edit, and manage content. **Docs MCP is outbound from your docs** — it exposes your docs to external AI agents, captures the leads those interactions produce, and records what every agent requested. ##### What is MCP tool-call analytics? Every time an AI agent calls your Docs MCP — which page it fetched, what it searched, what it couldn't find — Leed logs it. That's a live stream of **product feedback**: the questions agents (and the humans behind them) are really asking. Seeing your docs through the eyes of the agents consuming them is a category-first capability. ##### Can AI agents capture leads through my docs? Yes. When an agent interacts with your docs through Docs MCP, that interaction feeds the same closed funnel as a human reader — so agent-driven demand shows up in your pipeline instead of vanishing into an anonymous API call. Migrating & getting started #### Start in minutes, migrate at your pace Free signup is instant and requires no migration — bring your existing docs when it suits you. ##### How fast can I get started? Minutes. [Sign up free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up), publish a page, point your custom domain at it. No sales call, no credit card, no migration required to begin. ##### Can I bring my existing docs over? Yes — and you don't have to move everything to start. Stand up new content on Leed's free plan immediately and migrate existing docs on your own schedule. Enterprise plans include white-glove migration if you'd like help lifting a large docs set across. ##### Do I need to talk to sales or enter a card to try it? No. The free plan is self-serve and instant at [app.leed.ai](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up). Sales is only there if and when you reach Enterprise scale. ##### What if I outgrow the free plan? You upgrade to Starter or Growth in place — same docs, same domain, same team, more contacts and the full growth engine switched on. There's no re-platforming, because you were on the real product the whole time. Analytics & privacy #### Reader-level insight, handled responsibly We go beyond pageviews to reader identity and scroll depth — all kept first-party — and we're honest about what's shipped today and what's on the roadmap. ##### Do you meter on traffic or unique visitors? **No — never.** Growing readership is the goal, and we're not going to tax it. You'll never hit a traffic wall or a per-visitor bill. The only numbers that move your plan are contacts you nurture and emails you send. ##### What does reader-level analytics actually track? On paid plans, Leed connects engagement to **reader identity** and **scroll depth** — which pages a known reader read, how far they got, and how that maps to their journey through the funnel. It's the difference between “500 pageviews” and “this account read your pricing and API pages twice this week.” See [converting data into actionable metrics](/blog/converting-data-into-actionable-metrics-research-and-best-practices/) for how we turn that into decisions. ##### How does Leed identify readers, and what about privacy? Readers become identified **contacts** through lead-capture forms and the interactions you configure — not through covert tracking. Anonymous readers stay anonymous until they choose to identify; capturing a contact is free, and you only act on those contacts under the consent your forms establish. ##### Where does my analytics data go? Is it really first-party? It stays **first-party**. Leed collects analytics on **your own domain** — the data is never beaconed off to a third-party analytics host. Not Google Analytics, not Segment, **not even leed.ai**. That means no third-party tracking cookies, a far simpler consent story, and your readers’ data stays yours. ##### Do ad blockers break my analytics the way they break Google Analytics? No — and for docs this matters more than almost anywhere on the web. An estimated **72% of developers run an ad blocker**, and ad blockers work by blocking requests to third-party analytics domains — so Google Analytics, Segment, and PostHog silently lose most of a technical audience and report a fraction of reality. Because Leed collects **first-party**, on your own domain, there is no third-party request to block: you capture the complete picture — effectively **100% of readers**, including the engineers every third-party tool misses. For a developer audience, that's the difference between guessing and knowing. We dig into the numbers in [The Impact of Ad-Blockers on Business Analytics](/blog/the-impact-of-ad-blockers-on-business-analytics/). ##### How long is analytics history kept? History depends on plan: 30 days on Free, 1 year on Starter, 2 years on Growth, and unlimited on Enterprise. As you move up, you keep more of the funnel's history to work with. ##### Do you have a CRM? Not yet — and we won't pretend otherwise. A native CRM is **on the roadmap** (well underway, but not shipped). But there's something worth doing right now: since users are free, **bring your sales team in**. They can open any lead and see the full view of what that person consumed — every doc, release note, and answer they read, human or AI agent — which a traditional CRM structurally can't show, because it sits disconnected from the content people actually read. Today, Enterprise plans also integrate with your existing CRM so contacts and funnel data flow into the tools you already run. Leed runs the rest of your site — the presales pages, the media, the navigation, the growth engine — with capabilities a documentation platform structurally can't offer. [Start free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up) [Request Demo](/resources/request-demo/) Documentation is a fraction of your website. The recommendation engine that keeps readers moving, the auto-linking that ties your whole site together, the streaming media, the forms that collect more than emails, the attribution that survives every session — **that's the 90% docs tools were never built to touch.** Leed runs all of it on one platform, on one domain, in one closed funnel. A category of one #### What docs-only tools can't do Marquee capabilities you won't find on any documentation platform, at any tier. ##### Recommendation engine Out-of-the-box related-content recommendations that keep readers moving through your site — no tuning, no third-party widget. ##### Site-wide auto-linking Define a term once and Leed links its first occurrence on every page to the canonical source. One entry, and the entire site benefits. ##### Streaming media, hosted for you A built-in streaming video player and fully optimized image hosting — every asset served perfectly sized per screen, with plays, watch-time, and drop-off analytics. ##### Menu builder with analytics Build your whole site's navigation visually — and see exactly how visitors move through it, with click tracking on every menu. ##### Forms that collect anything Lead capture and general data collection in the same forms — gather whatever your business needs, not just an email address. ##### No-loss attribution Leed knows why every session started and keeps that reason through to the form fill — UTMs handled invisibly by our short-url system, never shown to the reader. Engineered guarantees #### Promises the platform actually keeps Some things shouldn't be a feature you pay for — they should just be true. On Leed, they are, on every plan. ##### Internal links never break Move, rename, or restructure any page and every internal link to it stays valid — guaranteed, with zero manual upkeep. ##### Never lose or duplicate an asset Leed tracks where every asset is used and warns you before deleting something a live page still needs — and catches duplicate uploads automatically. ##### The fastest platform there is Every part of configuration, setup, and delivery is tuned for maximum performance. Others could match our speed — no one can build a faster platform. ##### Optimized media, zero effort Images are hosted and served perfectly sized for every screen and video streams from our own player — no resizing, no CDN wrangling, no work on your part. #### See what a whole-site platform looks like The site you’re reading right now runs on Leed — the whole thing, on one platform. Our Philosophy Documentation platforms forced a choice — developer tools or marketing systems. Leed refuses the split. One end-to-end platform runs your entire site — presales marketing pages and post-sales docs on a single domain — tied into one closed funnel across the whole customer journey. The site you're reading right now runs on Leed. What You Ship #### Three surfaces, one platform Everything stays in sync, automatically. Connect docs to product outcomes and conversion.](/platform/features/analytics/) A category of one #### The closed loop no docs tool can draw Native lead capture, reader-level identity, and a per-reader consumption funnel — for every human reader and every AI agent. No documentation platform offers this at any tier. Most stacks lose the reader at the doc's edge — a pageview, and nothing more. Leed keeps the loop closed: capture leads natively, then see exactly what each identified reader consumed — scroll depth, pages, and path — and the same for every AI agent, down to each tool call. Capture is free to 250 contacts; you only pay to email and nurture them, metered on contacts and never on seats. Beyond docs #### Docs are a fraction of your site. Leed runs the rest A recommendation engine, site-wide auto-linking, streaming media, forms that collect more than emails, full-journey attribution, and whole-site governance — capabilities a documentation platform structurally can’t offer. [See what docs-only tools can’t do](/platform/beyond-docs/) Claims vs Reality #### What other platforms promise — and what actually ships The claim Platforms force you to choose developer-focused or marketing-focused tools. Leed also logs every tool call an agent makes against your docs — category-first product-feedback analytics that shows exactly what users and their AIs ask for. Collecting it is free; the advanced analytics over it is a paid unlock. - Token-gated access, always in sync with your docs - Every consuming agent becomes a contact - Logs every tool call — category-first, free to collect leed.dev/projects/acme/mcp Connected · OpenAPI 3.1 · 124 endpoints Acme Public API API DOCS Live docs.acme.dev/api MCP SERVER Live mcp.acme.dev/v1 // In Claude / Cursor / Zed — one line mcp add acme https://mcp.acme.dev/v1 \+ Spin up MCP server View tool schema ##### Both free — and zero setup There's nothing for you to build or run. Both MCP servers are live automatically the moment you have docs — no SDK to wire up, no server to stand up, host, and keep in sync, no config to maintain. That's usually the hard part of exposing docs to AI; on Leed it's already done and fully managed. It extends your full consumption view from human readers to AI agents, so you see what everyone reads and asks. The goal is professional documentation in minutes — zero infrastructure, no DevOps time borrowed. The shift #### From “later” to live in minutes Without Leed With Leed Docs deferred until it’s already a problem Zero to published docs in minutes Infra and DevOps time you don’t have Fully managed — nothing to provision Rework when you outgrow the setup Scales from instant publish to full governance #### “We’ll do docs later” has a cost Documentation feels like a problem for a calmer week that never arrives. Meanwhile your earliest technical buyers are reading whatever you have to judge whether you’re real. “Later” is often too late to make a first impression. #### Live in minutes, not months Import what you already have — Notion, Markdown, an OpenAPI spec — and publish a professional docs site the same afternoon. Nothing to provision, no DevOps time to borrow from a team of three. - Import from Notion, Markdown & OpenAPI - AI drafts from rough notes - Zero infrastructure to manage #### Start simple, grow into it Publish instantly while you’re moving fast. Add reviews when accuracy starts to matter. Layer in governance as the team grows — without ever migrating to a different tool. Then a release lands, the next sprint starts, and the changelog quietly becomes a problem for future-you. Here’s how engineering teams take documentation off the to-do list for good — without leaving the tools they already work in. The shift #### From after-the-fact chore to part of the pipeline Without Leed With Leed Docs rot the moment code merges Docs sync from Jira, GitHub & OpenAPI automatically Release notes hand-written, always late Notes draft themselves when the sprint closes No record of who changed what, when Engineering-grade versioning + full audit history #### Documentation is the deliverable that never makes the sprint It’s not a discipline problem. Docs lose every prioritization call to shipping code, and they should — until the moment a teammate is reconstructing release notes from a week-old Jira board with half the context already gone. The durable fix isn’t more willpower. It’s removing the manual step entirely, so documentation becomes a byproduct of shipping rather than a separate task competing with it. #### Author where the work already happens Leed reads from the systems your team lives in. Merge a PR, close an issue, update an OpenAPI spec, and the relevant docs move with it — no copy-paste, no second source of truth drifting out of sync. - Sync from Jira, Linear, GitHub, and OpenAPI - Release notes draft themselves when a sprint closes - API reference regenerates the moment endpoints change #### Treat docs like code Documentation engineers actually trust behaves like the rest of the stack: branchable, reviewable, reversible. Doc branches mirror code branches, changes route through approval when they need to, and every edit is attributable. When something publishes wrong, you roll back a version — you don’t page whoever wrote it. #### What changes Quieter on-call, faster onboarding, and a changelog nobody dreads. Docs stop being the thing you apologize for and start being part of how you ship. For Engineering teams ##### Stop hand-writing docs after every sprint See how Leed auto-syncs from your stack and drafts release notes the moment a sprint closes. - Auto-sync from Jira, GitHub & OpenAPI - Versioned, reviewable, audit-ready [Start free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up) [Request a demo](/resources/request-demo/) Enterprise documentation usually forces a trade: the governance security demands, or an authoring experience people will actually use. Legacy CCMS gives you the former and punishes you with the latter. You shouldn’t have to pick. The shift #### From legacy CCMS rigidity to modern control Without Leed With Leed XML gymnastics for basic content reuse Structured reuse without the XML overhead Weeks of config before anyone writes Governed workflows that work out of the box Off-the-shelf look you can’t fully brand Full CSS control + customizable templates #### You shouldn’t have to choose between control and usability Legacy content management delivers the governance your security team requires and punishes everyone else with workflows nobody wants to open. The predictable result: shadow docs in Google Docs, and a system of record that’s always slightly wrong. #### Modern authoring, enterprise spine Structured content reuse without XML gymnastics. Governed workflows that work on day one instead of after weeks of configuration. The controls you need, wrapped around an editor people actually open. - Content reuse without the XML overhead - Granular RBAC with SSO - Access control at any level #### Indistinguishable from custom-built Full CSS control and custom components mean your docs match your brand to the pixel — with white-label options for when they need to disappear into your product entirely. For Enterprise ##### Enterprise control. Startup speed Governance, RBAC, and SSO without the infrastructure drag of legacy CCMS. - Granular RBAC + SSO - Complete customization [Start free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up) [Request a demo](/resources/request-demo/) Docs are often the most-visited, highest-intent pages you own — read by people actively trying to succeed with your product. Yet for most teams they sit entirely outside the funnel: unmeasured, unowned, and invisible to the people responsible for growth. The shift #### From cost center to acquisition channel Without Leed With Leed Docs sit outside the funnel entirely Contextual CTAs + lead gates inside the docs No idea which pages drive signups Page-level attribution to trial & activation Specs that never become a story AI turns specs into social-ready narrative #### Your highest-intent content has no analytics Someone reading your quickstart at 11pm is closer to converting than almost anyone in your ad audience. But because docs live in a different system — and a different team’s mind — that intent goes unseen and unworked. The opportunity isn’t to bolt marketing onto docs. It’s to treat documentation as the conversion surface it already is. #### Make docs part of the funnel With contextual CTAs, email gates, and page-level attribution, documentation becomes a channel you can actually optimize — not a black box you hope is helping. - Contextual CTAs inside the docs - Email gates for lead capture - Gated assets — whitepapers, guides, and downloads behind a form - Attribution from page to trial to activation #### Nurture on autopilot Capturing the lead is only half of it. Leed turns those contacts into an audience you can actually reach — automated newsletters and nurture sequences that send on their own, so the pipeline your docs generate keeps warming without a separate email tool or another team. - Automated newsletters to your captured contacts - Nurture sequences triggered by what readers actually read - Every send tracked back to the closed per-reader funnel #### Turn specs into stories AI bridges the gap between what was built and why anyone should care, turning raw technical updates into social-ready narrative — without sanding off the accuracy that earns developer trust. For Marketing teams ##### Turn docs into pipeline Make documentation a measurable part of acquisition — with CTAs, lead capture, and attribution. - CTAs, gated assets & automated newsletters - Track pages that drive signups - Free to start · unlimited users · never per-seat [Start free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up) [Request a demo](/resources/request-demo/) When you ship every day, documentation headcount can’t scale linearly with engineering — that math breaks fast. The way out isn’t more writers; it’s automation and guardrails that let the team move autonomously without docs falling behind. The shift #### From linear headcount to leverage Without Leed With Leed Docs fall behind a daily deploy cadence Automation keeps pace with every ship Quality bottlenecked on a few reviewers Templates + workflows enable team autonomy Guesswork on where docs matter most Release-to-adoption analytics set priorities #### Docs headcount can’t scale with deploys The old model — hire a writer for every few engineers — collapses under a daily deploy cadence. Either documentation falls behind or the team drowns maintaining it. Neither outcome is acceptable as you scale. #### Automate the upkeep, standardize the rest Let automation own the parts that change constantly: API reference from spec diffs, release notes from your tracker. Templates and review workflows give the wider team autonomy without surrendering consistency. - Reference and notes update automatically - Templates enforce standards - Review workflows per content type #### Invest where it moves adoption Release-to-adoption analytics tell you which docs actually drive activation, so effort lands where it compounds instead of where it’s loudest. For Growth-stage teams ##### Scale docs, not headcount Keep documentation current as you ship daily — with automation and guardrails, not more hires. - Automation that keeps pace - Standardized, autonomous workflows - Free to start · unlimited users · never per-seat [Start free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up) [Request a demo](/resources/request-demo/) By the time a prospect books a call, they’ve usually been through your docs — pricing, security, integrations — on their own time. That research is the clearest buying signal you have, and most teams never see a trace of it. The shift #### From invisible research to readable buying signals Without Leed With Leed Prospect research happens in the dark See which accounts read what, and when Reps reconstruct product details by hand Always-accurate, release-synced enablement hub Docs influence never tied to pipeline Engagement attributed to deals and velocity #### Buyers research before they ever talk to you Modern technical buying happens mostly off-platform and off-call. Champions read, test, and build conviction in your docs long before a rep is involved — and that pre-sales motion is invisible to the people who could act on it. #### Read the room before the call Account-level engagement shows which companies are reading what, and when interest spikes. Reps walk in already knowing the questions, the objections, and the features that matter to this account. - Account-level engagement signals - High-intent page and search tracking - Buying signals from content consumption #### Arm the team, attribute the pipeline A single, always-current source of product truth means reps quote the real thing, not a stale deck. And because engagement ties back to deals, you can finally show what documentation contributes to pipeline and deal velocity. For Revenue teams ##### Docs that close deals Surface pre-sales intent, arm reps with accurate product knowledge, and attribute docs to pipeline. - Account-level engagement signals - Pipeline attribution from content [Start free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up) [Request a demo](/resources/request-demo/) acme.dev/changelog/v3.4 JANUARY 14 · v3.4 Realtime exports & smarter rate limits NEW API BREAKING Stream rows from any dataset to your warehouse the moment they change. No more nightly batch jobs. Read full notes → Subscribe to releases Coordinating a release across engineering, support, and marketing usually means writing the same update four times for four audiences, then chasing sign-off before anyone can publish. The teams that ship calmly have turned that scramble into a workflow. The shift #### From release-day scramble to a repeatable workflow Without Leed With Leed Release notes assembled by hand each time Auto-drafted from Jira, GitHub & more with templates “Where are the notes?” across five channels One publish fans out to email, Slack & in-app No line of sight from feature to adoption Engagement tied to feature adoption #### Release day shouldn’t be a fire drill The cost of a release isn’t the code — it’s the communication tax around it. Drafting notes, tailoring them per audience, fielding “is this live yet?” in three channels, all while the next sprint is already moving. Treating release communication as a repeatable workflow instead of a one-off turns the most stressful day of the cycle into the most predictable. #### One source, every channel Draft once from your issue tracker, choose a template for the release type, and let it fan out — docs, email, in-app, Slack. Stakeholders stop asking where the notes are because they already have them. - Auto-draft from Jira, GitHub & more - Templates per release type - Scheduled, multi-channel publishing #### See features land, not just ship Shipping a feature isn’t the finish line; adoption is. Connect documentation engagement to feature usage and you can see which launches landed, which need clearer docs, and exactly where users get stuck. For Product teams ##### Ship releases, not busywork Turn every release into a tracked, templated workflow that keeps every team aligned. - Auto-generated release notes - Multi-channel distribution built in [Start free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up) [Request a demo](/resources/request-demo/) leed.dev/admin/permissions Workspace permissions SAML SSO · Okta · 4 roles · 218 members Capability Viewer Author Reviewer Admin Read published ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ Read drafts — ✓ ✓ ✓ Edit content — ✓ ✓ ✓ Approve releases — — ✓ ✓ Manage SSO / roles — — — ✓ View audit log — — ✓ ✓ Auditors don’t care how modern your editor is — they care whether the right people reviewed the right content, and whether you can prove it. The shift #### From ungoverned edits to provable process Without Leed With Leed Changes ship with no formal review Role-based approval chains with sign-off History scattered or simply missing Full version history + exportable audit logs Consistency depends on goodwill Guardrails + components enforce standards #### Auditors want proof, not polish When the question is “who approved this, and when?”, a beautiful editor is no help. What matters is a defensible record — and the ability to produce it without a fire drill. #### Process you can prove Define approval chains that match your org, require sign-off from the right roles, and capture every step with a timestamp. When an auditor asks, you export the trail instead of reconstructing it from memory and email. - Role-based approval chains - Full version history + exportable audit logs - Side-by-side version comparison #### Consistency without the chokehold Style guardrails and reusable components keep content compliant by default, so teams move quickly inside the boundaries instead of waiting on a gatekeeper for every small change. If it’s slow to search, thin on examples, or subtly out of date, that impression sticks — long before they reach an endpoint. #### Fast answers, hands-on examples Semantic search returns answers with code, not a list of blue links. But it locks each article to a single editor at a time, its analytics stop at aggregate counts, and there's no native lead capture. Leed adds true simultaneous co-editing, reader-level analytics, and lead-gen — free to start with unlimited users. Leed's scroll-depth and click tracking tells you who engaged. 03 ##### Docs that capture pipeline Document360 has no native lead-gen — teams embed a third-party form via iframe. But every feature beyond the static build — hosting, analytics, access control, release notes, lead capture — is something your team assembles and maintains. Leed ships all of it as a managed platform that's also free to start. Choose Docusaurus if You want a free, open-source static site generator and your team has the engineering time to host, deploy, and extend it yourselves. But AI writing and search analytics are paid add-ons, analytics is gated to the $350/mo Scaling tier, and lead-gen is a generic third-party embed. Leed includes release-note automation, reader analytics, and native lead capture — free to start with unlimited users. Choose Archbee if You want an all-in-one docs platform with real-time editing and Git sync and you're comfortable paying extra for AI writing and search analytics as add-ons. It's genuinely great, and free. But it's also a build pipeline: you write Markdown, you run the build, and you own the hosting, deploys, analytics, and everything past the static site. Leed gives you a free managed docs platform instead — no CI to wire up, no server to run — and then adds analytics, access control, and a full growth engine that a static site can't reach. Choose MkDocs if You want a free, open-source Python generator you fully control and your team has the engineering time to host, deploy, and maintain it — via CI, GitHub Pages, or Read the Docs — plus wire up any plugins you need. Choose Leed if You want a free managed platform, not a build pipeline — hosting, reader analytics, release notes, and lead capture already built in, with unlimited users and nothing to run yourself. Leed is hosted and managed end to end, with nothing to provision or maintain, and free to start with unlimited users. 02 ##### Analytics, access control, and lead-gen included — not a plugin each MkDocs ships none of these natively; the plugin ecosystem is huge, but reader analytics means a Google Analytics plugin, and access control or lead capture means custom work your team builds and keeps running. Leed includes reader-level analytics, access control, and native lead capture out of the box. 03 ##### Docs that capture pipeline A static site ends at the reader — it renders the page and the visit is gone. But everything past the static build — hosting, analytics, access control, release notes, lead capture — is something your team wires up and maintains. Leed ships all of it as a managed platform that's also free to start. Choose Starlight if You want a free, fast, open-source generator built on Astro and your team has the engineering time to host, deploy, and extend it yourselves. But it's seat- and credit-limited, and leans on Segment or PostHog for engagement data. Leed covers the reference plus everything around it — product guides, release notes people read, native analytics, and lead capture — free to start with unlimited users. Choose Fern if Your docs are primarily an API reference and you need pixel-perfect, spec-driven SDKs generated from OpenAPI in a dozen languages. But it's priced per seat with no free tier, and its own docs confirm analytics don't identify individual readers. Leed is free to start with unlimited users, covers the guides outside the spec, and adds reader-level analytics and lead capture. But its real-time editing, version history, and advanced roles live behind the $249/site Ultimate tier, billed on top of $12/user. Leed includes collaborative editing free with unlimited users — then adds what GitBook doesn't sell at any tier: native lead capture, reader-level analytics, and nurturing. Choose GitBook if You want real-time editing with a deep, bidirectional Git-sync workflow for a developer-heavy team, and per-user, per-site pricing fits your budget. If your team lives in Vue and Vite, it's a joy to work in. But it stops at the static build — hosting, analytics, access control, release notes, and lead capture are all things you assemble, deploy, and maintain yourself. Leed ships every one of those as a managed platform that's also free to start. Choose VitePress if You want a fast, free, open-source Vite/Vue static site generator and your team has the engineering time to host, deploy, and extend it yourselves. If your job is turning a spec into a stunning interactive reference, it's excellent. But that's where it stops — Scalar is centered on the API reference, not the guides and product docs around it, and not on turning readers into pipeline. Leed covers the whole product, is free to start with unlimited users, and adds reader-level analytics and lead capture Scalar has at no tier. Choose Scalar if You want a beautiful, modern, open-source interactive API reference and client for your OpenAPI spec — with a playground developers actually enjoy, free to self-host. It's a genuinely strong tool for that job. But it centers on the API reference and its design lifecycle, and every paid tier is priced per seat. Leed covers the whole product around the spec — guides, tutorials, release notes — free to start with unlimited users, then adds reader-level analytics and lead capture Stoplight was never built to do. Choose Stoplight if Your work is API-first design and governance — visual OpenAPI editing, Spectral style guides across a portfolio, and mock servers to prototype before you build. Choose Leed if Your docs are the whole product — and a growth channel — guides and product docs around the spec, reader-level analytics, and lead capture, free to start with unlimited users and no per-seat bill. Feature by feature #### Where the platforms diverge Leed Stoplight Docs & authoring Free tier to start publishing Unlimited users — no per-seat pricing AI-powered authoring Real-time collaborative editing Scheduled page publishing AI agents & MCP Docs MCP — serve your docs to AI agents Operator MCP — manage docs with your own Claude MCP tool-call analytics — what agents ask your docs WebMCP — in-browser agent tools A2A AgentCard — agent discovery The growth engine — a category of one Native lead capture & nurturing in docs Closed per-reader funnel (full consumption view) Reader-level analytics (scroll depth, identity) Auto release notes from Jira, GitHub & more Multi-channel + social distribution Beyond docs — your whole site Built-in recommendation engine Site-wide auto-linking to canonical pages Streaming media hosting + auto-transcription Video, audio & menu engagement analytics No-loss attribution with hidden UTMs The difference #### The growth engine Stoplight leaves outside the spec 01 ##### The whole product, not just the reference Stoplight is built around the API reference and its design lifecycle, and every paid tier is priced per seat — a Free plan caps you at one user and one project. Leed covers the guides, tutorials, and product docs that live around the spec, free to start with unlimited users and no per-seat bill. 02 ##### Analytics that name the reader Stoplight's analytics are API-design and documentation tooling — governance, coverage, and aggregate doc views. Leed's scroll-depth and click tracking is tied to who's reading, so you see which accounts engaged with which page, not just a pageview count. 03 ##### Docs that capture pipeline Stoplight's docs end at the reader — a great reference experience and nothing past it. Leed adds native lead capture, a closed per-reader funnel, and nurturing, so engaged readers become tracked pipeline instead of anonymous traffic — a growth layer Stoplight doesn't offer. #### Start free. Leed trades that structured-authoring depth for speed and reach: free to start, live in minutes, no XML/DITA to learn, with reader analytics and lead capture built in from day one. Choose Heretto if You run a large, regulated documentation operation that needs DITA-grade content reuse, branching, and governance at enterprise scale. Choose Leed if You want to be live in minutes, free to start — no XML/DITA to learn, plus reader analytics and lead capture Heretto doesn't offer, with unlimited users. Leed is free to start and live the same day, with no XML/DITA prerequisite. 02 ##### No structured-authoring tax Heretto requires DITA/XML fluency, and reviewers cite a steep learning curve. Leed's editor is markdown-friendly with nothing to learn beyond writing. 03 ##### Analytics and lead-gen Heretto doesn't publish We found no evidence of individual-reader analytics or native lead capture in Heretto's public feature set. Both are built into Leed, feeding a closed per-reader funnel. #### Start free. See what your docs are worth Bring your existing docs — unlimited users, your own domain, no card. But it's built on DocBook/XML, starts near $15k/yr, and sources put onboarding at weeks, not minutes. Leed trades that reuse infrastructure for speed and reach: free to start, live the same day, with analytics and lead capture Paligo doesn't have. Choose Paligo if You need enterprise-scale content reuse and multilingual publishing across PDF, web, and other formats from a single structured source. Choose Leed if You want to publish the same day, free to start — no XML to learn, plus reader-level analytics and lead capture built in, with unlimited users. Leed is free to start and publishing the same day, with no DocBook or topic-based training. 02 ##### Analytics tied to the reader Paligo's Content Delivery Portal tracks search queries and topic usage in aggregate. Leed's scroll-depth and click tracking is tied to the individual reader. 03 ##### Lead capture, not just content delivery Paligo is built for content management and reuse, not demand generation — we found no native lead-gen feature. Leed captures and nurtures leads directly in the docs, feeding a closed per-reader funnel. #### Start free. If your team already lives in that ecosystem, the flexibility is real. But Nextra is a static site you build and deploy yourself — everything past the build, from hosting and analytics to access control and lead capture, is something you wire up and run. Leed ships all of it as a managed platform that's also free to start. Choose Nextra if Your team is on Next.js and React and wants a free, MDX-powered generator you host and extend yourselves — with full control over the codebase and the Vercel deploy pipeline. Choose Leed if You want a free managed platform, not a Next.js app to build and run — hosting, reader analytics, release notes, and lead capture already built in, with a growth engine on top and nothing to deploy yourself. Feature by feature #### Where the platforms diverge Leed Nextra Docs & authoring Managed hosting — nothing to deploy or maintain AI-powered authoring Real-time collaborative editing Scheduled page publishing AI agents & MCP Docs MCP — serve your docs to AI agents Basic Operator MCP — manage docs with your own Claude MCP tool-call analytics — what agents ask your docs WebMCP — in-browser agent tools A2A AgentCard — agent discovery The growth engine — a category of one Native lead capture & nurturing in docs Closed per-reader funnel (full consumption view) Reader-level analytics (scroll depth, identity) Auto release notes from Jira, GitHub & more Multi-channel + social distribution Beyond docs — your whole site Built-in recommendation engine Site-wide auto-linking to canonical pages Streaming media hosting + auto-transcription Video, audio & menu engagement analytics No-loss attribution with hidden UTMs The difference #### The growth engine you'd have to build yourself on top of Nextra 01 ##### A managed platform, not a Next.js app you host Nextra gives you a Next.js codebase that builds a static site — you own the repo, the dependencies, the deploys, and the upgrades, typically on Vercel. Leed is hosted and managed end to end, with nothing to provision or maintain, and free to start. 02 ##### Analytics, access control, and lead-gen included Nextra ships none of these — each is a plugin, a third-party script, or a custom auth layer you build and keep running. Leed includes reader-level analytics, access control, and lead capture out of the box, with no code to maintain. 03 ##### Docs that capture pipeline A Nextra site ends at the reader — it renders beautifully and stops there. Leed adds native lead capture, a closed per-reader funnel, and nurturing, turning engaged readers into identified, tracked pipeline instead of anonymous traffic. Capture is free; you pay only when you're ready to act on it. #### Start free. See what your docs are worth Bring your existing docs — unlimited users, your own domain, no card. Leed matches that — free to start, unlimited editors, custom domain included — then adds what Mintlify doesn't sell at any price: lead capture, reader-level analytics, and nurturing that turn your docs into a measurable growth channel. Choose Mintlify if You want a fast, beautiful docs site with live collaborative editing and a Git-native workflow is the core of how your team writes. Choose Leed if You want that same free, collaborative docs site — plus a growth engine — lead capture, reader-level analytics, and nurturing that turn readers into pipeline, with unlimited users and no per-seat bill. Feature by feature #### Where the platforms diverge Leed Mintlify Docs & authoring Free tier to start publishing Unlimited users — no per-seat pricing AI-powered authoring Real-time collaborative editing Scheduled page publishing AI agents & MCP Docs MCP — serve your docs to AI agents Operator MCP — manage docs with your own Claude MCP tool-call analytics — what agents ask your docs WebMCP — in-browser agent tools A2A AgentCard — agent discovery The growth engine — a category of one Native lead capture & nurturing in docs Closed per-reader funnel (full consumption view) Reader-level analytics (scroll depth, identity) Basic Auto release notes from Jira, GitHub & more Basic Multi-channel + social distribution Beyond docs — your whole site Built-in recommendation engine Site-wide auto-linking to canonical pages Streaming media hosting + auto-transcription Video, audio & menu engagement analytics No-loss attribution with hidden UTMs The difference #### The growth engine Mintlify doesn't sell 01 ##### Free to land, like Mintlify — then it keeps going Both start free with unlimited editors and a custom domain. The difference is what happens after you publish: Leed captures the readers your docs attract and turns them into identified contacts. You pay only when you're ready to nurture them — never per seat, never on traffic. 02 ##### Docs that capture pipeline Mintlify's AI-native site ends at a great reading experience. Leed adds native lead capture, a closed per-reader funnel, and nurturing, so engaged readers become tracked pipeline instead of anonymous traffic — a growth layer Mintlify doesn't offer at any tier. 03 ##### Your MCP server is a growth surface, not just a reader Both ship a Docs MCP that serves docs to AI agents. Only Leed logs every tool call those agents make — showing what users and their AIs actually ask for — and turns MCP consumers into identified contacts. Plus the Operator MCP lets your own Claude create and manage docs. #### Start free. See what your docs are worth Bring your existing docs — unlimited users, your own domain, no card. But it charges $20 per extra admin, sells Ask AI as a $150/mo add-on, and stops at the reader. Leed is free to start with unlimited users, tracks how people actually read your docs, and adds lead capture and nurturing ReadMe doesn't have. Choose ReadMe if You want interactive API testing and per-developer API-call analytics baked into your reference docs, and per-admin pricing works for your team. Choose Leed if You want reading analytics and a growth engine, free to start — how people read your docs plus lead capture and nurturing, with unlimited users and no per-admin or Ask-AI add-on. Feature by feature #### Where the platforms diverge Leed ReadMe Docs & authoring Free tier to start publishing Unlimited users — no per-seat pricing AI-powered authoring Real-time collaborative editing Basic Scheduled page publishing AI agents & MCP Docs MCP — serve your docs to AI agents Operator MCP — manage docs with your own Claude MCP tool-call analytics — what agents ask your docs WebMCP — in-browser agent tools A2A AgentCard — agent discovery The growth engine — a category of one Native lead capture & nurturing in docs Closed per-reader funnel (full consumption view) Reading analytics (scroll depth, reader identity) Auto release notes from Jira, GitHub & more Basic Multi-channel + social distribution Beyond docs — your whole site Built-in recommendation engine Site-wide auto-linking to canonical pages Streaming media hosting + auto-transcription Video, audio & menu engagement analytics No-loss attribution with hidden UTMs The difference #### The growth engine ReadMe's metrics don't cover 01 ##### Reading analytics, not just API-call analytics ReadMe's Metrics dashboard tracks endpoint usage and errors. Leed tracks scroll depth, element clicks, and reader identity on the docs themselves — a different signal ReadMe doesn't capture. 02 ##### Free to start, no per-admin or add-on tax ReadMe bills $20 per extra admin and sells Ask AI as a $150/mo add-on. Leed is free to start with unlimited users, and the AI and growth engine are included. 03 ##### Docs that capture pipeline ReadMe stops at the reader. Leed adds native lead capture, a closed per-reader funnel, and nurturing, so high-intent readers become tracked pipeline instead of anonymous traffic. #### Start free. See what your docs are worth Bring your existing docs — unlimited users, your own domain, no card. Capture leads free; pay only when you're ready to email and nurture them. [Start free](https://app.leed.ai/auth/sign-up) [Request Demo](/resources/request-demo/) [All comparisons](/compare/) ### Read the Docs vs. Leed Read the Docs does one thing exceptionally well: it builds and hosts documentation from your Sphinx or MkDocs sources, with best-in-class versioning, pull-request preview builds, full-text search, and a free community tier that has served open source for years. But the authoring still happens in your own static generator — reStructuredText or Markdown in Git — and the analytics stop at aggregate page views and search terms. Leed is a managed platform where you author in-app, reach readers as identified contacts, and run a built-in growth engine — and it's also free to start, with unlimited users. Choose Read the Docs if You host versioned open-source project docs built from Sphinx or MkDocs and you want free, community-supported hosting with pull-request preview builds and the Sphinx ecosystem behind you. Choose Leed if You want to author in-app, not build in a separate static generator — with reader-level analytics, native lead capture, and a growth engine that turns docs into pipeline, free to start and with unlimited users, never per seat. Feature by feature #### Where the platforms diverge Leed Read the Docs Docs & authoring Free tier to start publishing AI-powered authoring Real-time collaborative editing Scheduled page publishing AI agents & MCP Docs MCP — serve your docs to AI agents Operator MCP — manage docs with your own Claude MCP tool-call analytics — what agents ask your docs WebMCP — in-browser agent tools A2A AgentCard — agent discovery The growth engine — a category of one Native lead capture & nurturing in docs Closed per-reader funnel (full consumption view) Reader-level analytics (scroll depth, identity) Auto release notes from Jira, GitHub & more Multi-channel + social distribution Beyond docs — your whole site Built-in recommendation engine Site-wide auto-linking to canonical pages Streaming media hosting + auto-transcription Video, audio & menu engagement analytics No-loss attribution with hidden UTMs The difference #### The growth engine Read the Docs doesn't host 01 ##### Author in-app, not in a separate static generator With Read the Docs you write in Sphinx or MkDocs — reStructuredText or Markdown in your own repo — and RTD builds and hosts the result. Leed is where the authoring happens too: AI-assisted, real-time collaborative editing in the platform, with nothing to wire up between your generator and your host. Both are free to start, but only one lets you write, publish, and grow in one place. 02 ##### Reader-level analytics, not traffic-level counts Read the Docs Traffic Analytics shows aggregate page views and top search terms — useful for knowing which pages are popular, but anonymous. Leed tells you who read what: reader identity, scroll depth, and full consumption per person, so engagement becomes a signal you can act on instead of a number on a dashboard. 03 ##### A closed per-reader funnel, not a host that ends at page views Read the Docs stops at hosting — and on the free community tier, pages carry EthicalAds. Leed adds native lead capture and nurturing on top of your docs, turning engaged readers into identified contacts and tracked pipeline. You're metered on the contacts and email you choose to act on, never per seat and never on raw traffic — capture is free, acting is paid. #### Start free.
